I’m looking for some help identifying a frame. I figure someone here can help.It’s from the early 1970’s, possible Schwinn Paramount, maybe French, maybe something else. I say French because it has a Stronglight crank and Normandy hubs.

However, it has a Campy NR rear Derailleur (Patent 71) Campy NR brakes (the older normal reach) a Campy NR seatpost 26.4mm and Campy barend shifters (which leads me to think it was a Crit bike) and the longer Campy horizontal rear drops.

Some of the neat things about his bike are drilled Campy NR brake levers, shifters, front derailleur clamp and the chainrings. Not the best job I’ve seen of drilling by dang good for the age of the bike.Plus as the story goes, the bike was painted in team colors (the paint job is not great, but it adds to the bike) plus the downtube panel has a name painted on it, which iI assume is the name of the original owner/racer.The bike has a serial number on the under side of the BB but only three numbers are visible through paint.

Any ideas or help is appreciated greatly.

I play an expert on the internet. Looks like Peugeot to me. Late 60s. Looks like Peugeot fork.
Scrape the paint off the front and rear forks near drop outs and see if chromed.

Looks like a Peugeot PX10 to me too... Except for that non-Simplex dropout!

Thanks for the quick replies....we think PX10 also except for the Campy drop outs and fork ends which confuses me.

I just looked at some '75 PX10s and Paramounts on google. Similiar but I'd guess Schwinn after seeing those. Any sign of headbadge holes on headtube? Also, that paint design looks nice, but it looks like a non-professional job. Maybe go after that serial number with fine sand paper or a paint remover? That's a really exciting find you've got there.

Although it looks a little like a '70 - '71 Paramount P13-9, a Paramount would have the serial number on the non-drive side dropout, so I'd rule that out. Do you know what the BB threading is, or the seat post diameter? That could help narrow it down a little.

Those Nervex Professional lugs look nicer filed than what would have been a typical production frame from a big company like Peugeot or Motobecane. There were lots of frames made in the UK and sold in small retail shops that used Nervex lugs that would do a nicer job in prepping them before brazing and shaping afterwards.

I vote Pug as well. The flared ends of the head tube are characteristic of ~1970 PX10s.
