CreakingCrank's photo reminded me of this sight I rode past in the valley heading to Lolo Pass on my 2017 tour. Often it's the people who you run across while touring that give you the best memories and stories. But I also have worked in a bike shop for far too many years to not also know that bikes can be the last resort of those who can't find a better way in the world, for whatever reasons. This time I stayed on my side of the road and only paused. This guy was walking his two rigs, a couple hundred feet at a time then going back for the other one. Andy

str, that's quite a tree!
Doug, I love your pics as they always include people, especially your family. It's a contrast to mine which almost never have people (other than me) because I tour alone and am somewhat introverted around strangers.
It's like getting to see: Oh. that's what that is like

Dale, It sounds like we are about even. I really enjoy your outstanding landscapes; and am a little envious (in a good way), because my landscapes are pretty mediocre.

Hey, I haven't posted to this thread in awhile now. Here ya go, with bicycle. 😎 I got rained on good in Pie Town, then snowed on later the same morning. I took a ride in a pickup truck, with no regrets. 🙄😉

Germany.
Bulgaria
You can guess where this is.
Perryville, Missouri. This sign made me chuckle.
A different kind of scenery in Gdansk, Poland. Rode up on a photo shoot in progress.

Don't take this wrong way, but a news article in Australia last year said pictures of the Eiffel Tower are illegal to the French. With so many taken (including ours) how can they say that?
By the way, I like the colour of the fenders on the bike in the first pictures, especially as the bike portrays to me a Ti or aluminium finish. They also go with the bar tape. Nice.

I had not heard about how the French view photos of the Eiffel Tower. Really weird.

Hmmm... pictures of it at night apparently have been illegal since 1985. Links on stories about it below:

That is simply mind bending. It stinks to think something is standing right there in full view of the public realm and yet you'd have to pay a licensing fee to distribute an image of it.

Is this post against the law?

What I do remember was thinking how bloody daft that sounded, but as I was only shooting a bit of stock stuff back then, it was never a problem for me.
As a photographer, what bugged me was that a good photo isnt because of the subject generally, but the natural lighting, camera placement and all that, so it seemed over the top to say that lighting on a building or whatever was a copyrighted "thing" in itself....but there you go, these laws came into place and probably are still applicable (but again, Im not properly informed).

Nice pic Doug!
My sense is that the licensing thing would only become an issue if someone were including it in some sort of large commercial advertising campaign ie. blatantly profiting from their lighting design.
Now, if those ooh la la Parisian crushed velvet saddle covers Doug's been flogging ever take off he's going to be in a real international pickle!

An action photo to balance off all the beautiful scenic shots. Four of my boys as we're rolling south last season. (I really need to get back to an SLR)
