Was a dyed in the wool Cinelli cork user for 20 years, now prefer the rubbery cushioned feel, durability and performance of Fabric Knurl or Performance Grip-Tec2 - which I guess will go the way of the dodo soon after I use up these last 2 pkgs I have. These type of tapes also hold up well very to sweaty hands for the many indoor Zwift miles I do - cork and other type tend to be more absorbent and become caked with salt in short order which can corrode bars.

I'm a fan of Fizik. It is more expensive, but it lasts a long time, is grippy and cushioning without much thickness. Good for bare hands.

How often are you guys changing your tape?
BTW on previous threads I read good reviews/comments about Bontrager gel tape. I have no experience with the tape myself.

The SRAM website features two versions - the regular version and the cyclocross version. Which version do you have?
i prefer the cx version. It’s a little bit thinker and super grippy. The regular stuff is really good too but seems to be not so grippy and I like that. Both are good though. I just prefer the cx version. I pay around 20 to my door off eBay.

The smooth road version is on my road bikes and the CX version is on my gravel bike.

I friend of mine was/is changing his bar tape once a season. Another friend of mine was putting new bar tape on his bike each time he did a new race. I guess whatever makes you feel better and want to ride your bike works.
I have one season on my tape from last year. It doesn't show too much sign of wear to I will hopefully get another season out of it.

I like SRAM Supercork tape on all of my Zipp Service Course SL bars. Good stuff on both accounts. A good quality tape that goes on easy, performs well and lasts a long time.

I prefer Fizik bar tape. I use the different thicknesses based on bike use as I like the thinner 2mm stuff for most uses but will go with the 3mm for my gravel bike as the finishing wrap after a cheap cork tape as the base wrap. Makes for thicker bars but very cushy! I find lizard skins greater when dry but if it gets wet or your hands sweat it is like grabbing a bar of soap, very slippery. I also find the the Fizik tapes last forever but are somewhat harder to work with, especially the thicker ones as they do not stretch and can be difficult to fit in the barend with the plug.

I've always used Bontrager tape and was satisfied. My LBS ran out of it and recommended Lizard Skins. I didn't want to try them because I heard some people complain of their tacky feel. I trust my LBS owner, so I agreed. I love the Lizard Skins and had him change out the tape for Lizard Skins on another bike that wasn't even ready for a tape change.
