Bridgestone BB1 - Fixed!

Well with much thanks to many here I got my Bridgestone BB1 fixed. The existing seat post was stuck, the existing seat was a mess and just sort of shoved onto the post ..And I did not like the pedals

Its amazing what a little clean up, a new post and seat , and some better peddals will do for a bike!

Another Zombie Porch Rot Bike - revived!!

Thanks All!

Here is what I bought ... for $15

Thsi is the Zombi Porch Rot bike I purchased

And here it is all fixed up ! ... Well at least better ..

Nice job, looks great. I’m sure this won’t be your last refurbish. I’ve got a Bridgestone Bubster hanginging in the garage waiting to be fixed. They are neat, well thought out and practical bikes.

Thanks and yes ... the project bikes are lining up like the rush hour flight pattern near the airport ...

They keep finding me - this Raleigh was in the ad for $50 but when I stopped by the seller felt bad - the breaks were broken, the gears needed attention and she was not in the best shape - So she told me to just take it... Now I can appreciate that life is expensive and to me things still have value - so I gave her $10 for the ad and coming out in the cold.

But I think it "transformed" quite well - it was a process

Started here = smaller frt tire, no beaks really, gears needed work

I fixed the breaks and gears, fatter front tire , and added these handle bars ... no thats not me

Finally - my city bike rocking the coffee shop stop !

What does the BB mean?
I know City, Touring, Road, and Mountain as model letters, but I see that the BB replaced the CB.

Bomber Bike?

I am believing its "Basic Bridgstone" - but I sure like the name "Bomber Bike" ! That sort of describes me petty well riding a nasty trail down slope! Yeeeee-hawww!

per the 1992 Catalog
https://www.sheldonbrown.com/bridgestone/1992/1992.pdf

"BB" stands for "Basic BRIDGESTONE" Or "Best Buy," whicheveryou prefer . The B B -1 is our least expensive new model. (We have a few 'qi CB-1'S left, and they can be had for a bit less .) Its strong points are its lightweight frame, chrome=moly fork, round chainrings, and topmount shifters with friction option . The frames on the BB-r and CB-i are. identical, with our own size-specific geometry for a better fit and ride .

Digging the pedals on the BB1 repop. I reckon that new seatpost has no shortage of grease.....

Photography note - stick to drive side shots when possible, esp. for before/after shots.

According to the 1992 catalog, "BB" means 'Basic Bridgestone' or 'Best Buy' whichever you prefer..."
