I've been trying to avoid foods from the western hemisphere. Falafel mezza platter last night. Jajangmyeon for lunch today

My 19 year old is addicted to Naf Naf Grill so we got food from there on Saturday. Do you have Naf Naf there? It's like chipotle but middle eastern based. It's veg friendly but they have plenty of carnivorous options too.

We're supposed to get a White Castle this fall, though!!! I might have to try some after the lines die down a bit.

I have not had a White Castle since I was in High School. My recollection is greasy and very thin burgers. They are relatively cheap because they are small. Word on the street is that the more alcohol you have in your system, the better they taste.

8th grade was my last one. I'd have been super excited about being near a WC if it was 10 years ago. Now the doctor sez hamburgers should be a rare treat, and it seems a waste to make a rare treat such a low quality one

Ah, I thought that you were talking about feedback on the IB, not on BK. Yeah, you have reason for concern with BK. I used to love that place as a kid, but a bad Whopper too many on the Jersey turnpike ended that 15 years ago.

Hey now, don't be bad-talking WC. The last I saw, they used the best quality beef among fast food joints. That's probably changed now with the likes of Five Guys, Culver's, etc, but still you could and would do worse with McDs, BK, Taco Hell, etc. WC is a guilty pleasure of mine, even though it's probably less than once a month visit at this point.

They didn't have them in Manhattan, so I had to go to high school and make friends in Queens before I was able to sample the delicacy. The stores were open all night and contained grotesque, gnome-like, people and dancing colors, as I remember. The small burgers were convenient to eat while smiling involuntarily.

Thanks. The route and destination aren't that scenic, but it's some place to go for the weekend, and I picked up some nice New Jersey asparagus at a farm stand on the way back. The other place I wanted to go was booked solid.
As for cooking, I cook at home a lot and love to try to come up with tasty meals on the road. That particular one included foil-packaged chicken. I actually got turned on to foil-packed meat and fish by a post Machka made a few years ago in a thread about cooking on tour. I don't often shop in "regular"/large chain grocery stores much, so that sort of product never on my radar screen until she mentioned it. Makes total sense if you have to carry food a long way like I did.

We we have a dish that would be perfect for wrapping in foil and cooking at a campsite. Chicken Colorado. Chicken pieces onion slices, red and green bell pepper slices and barbecue sauce. We brown the chicken before it goes into the oven with the other ingredients. But you wouldn’t have to. Quite tasty. A little gassy, but I’m sure the bears can take a joke.

Maybe he meant cooking your treats rare. That way you can have them as often as you want!

About a week ago, I noticed a few small cartridges that look like CO2. but way too small. Yesterday while riding, I started counting and counted 8 along my route.
Being out of touch with the younger generation, I found out by googling that they are nitrous oxide carts used for making whipped cream and kids abuse them(selves) by sniffing them or whatever.

How do you keep chicken from spoiling?

White Castle is the schizitz!!! Back in my younger days, many a night we'd tumble into the Bruckner Blvd location in the Bronx for some sustenance before heading home after a night of partying. Even if the party was in Manhattan, where there were no WC, we'd find a way to hitch a ride to the Bronx for some WC. How you gonna go to bed hungry and get any sleep?

They're not so much greasy as they are... moist. The buns are steamed atop the patties.

White Castles are definitely better than McDs, Wendy's, BK, etc. I'm trying to reserve my monthly burger splurges for some next level burger action tho!
