I finally have a beater bike. It is an '89 Bianchi Sport SX. It was in pretty rough shape when I got it. I stripped off all the Shimano LX components and did a complete rebuild. I replaced everything except the headset and seat post. I went from 7 speed to 8 speed. I put on Shimano 600/Ultegra components with the exception of the brake calipers (Royal Gran Compe) and STIs (Shimano 105). All components were from my parts bins. I didn't need to purchase anything. I have a total of $50 into this bike. I will no longer be concerned about transporting a bike or riding one where it could get stolen. I will ride my beater Bianchi.

That's fabulous. That is a great color but that new clear really makes it pop.

Any other pics? Assuming the paint and tubing decals are correct my money is on an ‘88 Trofeo with Bianchi’s Columbus Formula II tubing. Most of the components look to have been swapped out.

No it can’t be that, I just noticed the Bianchi in the stay caps. Where are you and the bike?

The raised "cutout" B matches the Trofeo but all I have seen don't have black stays all the way to the caps. It is an ebay offering. Looks like some kind of stain on the top tube but might just be the light. I like the Argentin paint reference tho.

Does it fit? What's the ask? It certainly looks liek it needs a good overhaul and all new consumables, probably chain too. Anymore details?
More information and better pics would certainly help but it could be an '84 Milano White Campione de Italia, wif Columbus TreTubi and Alle Stays, N.R. derailleurs, G.S. cranks and hubs and Modolo brakes

Taking a good long 4th look, I am almost certain regardless where this it it is a repaint. While for a US market the Formula II tubing sticker would be correct for a '88 Trofeo, the style of the Colorado World Champion sticker is wrong for an '88, most had a round sticker placed near the BB, and lastly the Bianchi decal is more like a '93 style.
The cranks look like the original Chorus from '88- but the RD looks more like early Athena. The brake levers look like earlier CampI but I can't quite make out the brakes. The QR doesn't look Campagnoloish are they Dia Compe?
I can't quite place the

Possible Milano CDI
bianchigirl
Seller claims it is a 56 but I have asked him to confirm. It’s been up for awhile so I will look it over in day or two. He wants 125, not sure if there is wiggle room. If it’s too much work I will pass.
Thanks for the ident info! Should know by Friday if it sits in my driveway.
Well, the bike went to sit in someone else’s driveway. I still have my black 89 CDI to ride!

Bought this '89 Mondiale frameset from SpaghettiLegs early last year but didn't take possession until we met up at Thunder Ridge. These are great riding frames, top of the line for Bianchi that year, made of Columbus SLX. Not as jazzy with the pantos as some other years, but good, solid frames.
I like celeste, but Bianchi has made many versions of that color over the years, and this particular version didn't exactly bake my cookies when I saw it in person. SO while I had him working on another project, I shipped it off to Jack Trumbull at Franklin Frames & asked him specifically to paint it in House of Kolor Hot Pink pearl.
Although things turned out a little darker and more on the violet scale than hot pink, it still looks great and gets a lot of comments. It's all Dura Ace 7700 with White Industries hubs on Kinlin rims. Took it to Tucson for El Tour last month, and after 108 miles still felt fresh- the sign of a well built bike.

Something doesn't look right. OEM Celeste with those decals would have recessed brakes and not have that big ring on the bridge.
