WTS 1981 Allez
For sale is my 1980/1981 Specialized with three digit serial number , size is a 58CM frame , fully double butted Tange tubing . Tim Neenan Designed / Konno built bike. For some this is a grail Japanese built racing bike and one that is not all that easy to find as there was not a lot made in the early production.
I have owned this bike for about 3 years now, and gave it a overhaul / restoration almost 2 years ago. Everything on the bike is original to the bike as originally received Less than 100 miles ridden since the overhaul and I am not riding the bike . Unfortunately it is taking up room that could be made for a bike that would see more riding time.
Bike details include
Shimano Dropouts found only on the earliest production Specialized Allez bikes
Campagnolo Nuovo Record drive train
Specialized Racing Pedals and Stem
Shimano 600 headset and brakes / levers
Suntour Winner Pro freewheel 13 to 26 T IIRC
Fujita leather saddle
43CM 3T bars
New Orbea bar tape
New Jagwire cables
New Kool Stop pads
The original Weinmann concave rims were re - laced with new Sapim spokes to the Campagnolo Record Hubs which have been properly serviced .
New Panaracer Pasela 700x25 wire bead tires and Specialized inner tubes.
The bike looks really really nice , and is probably about as nice a condition example as you might run across in the wild , all the paint and decals are 100% original. Having said that there are condition issues such as some scrapes, and a few scratches that were touched up not to conceal the fact that they are there, but rather to protect the metal . In all likelihood this bike was probably raced by the original owner .
Ideally I would like $900 cash, but would consider a partial trade for a used 56CM Surly Cross Check frame or a Black Mountain Cycles Monstercross frame, I would also consider a partial trade for a Garmin Edge 1000. Alternately I am interested in other potential gravel bike frames that will handle 700x45c tires and are made of steel . Not really interested in aluminum bikes , they're just not my jam. Of course if you have other trade ideas I am willing to listen , not looking for any straight across trades sorry.. I do need some money to go towards a future gravel build.
It is my genuine desire to find this bike a home with someone who will love it and ride it so hit me up and let's chat.
At this time my preference is to not to ship and would prefer a buyer that is willing and able to pick up this bike in Salem Oregon.
