48USD 50mm Carbon Rims? How ridiculous is this? and 163USD for a Whole Wheelset laced with a Novatec Fixed Gear Hubs.

For the same reason anyone puts deep wheels on any bike.
Going to deep wheels on my fixed gear increased my average speed by at least 1 MPH over 30 miles.
Mine aren't even as deep as the 50's the OP is looking at.

There's a whole lot of rehashed meh in threads arguing about disc brakes, but also the occasional fresh thought.

Exactly!! Was thinking the same thing. Most folks wonder the same of us paying more than Walmart prices for a bicycle, yet...

If the wheels survive being tensioned during building, and the brake tracks can take say, 140 psi in the tyre, they should survive being used, since normal loads on a wheel only reduce spoke tension, counterintuitive as that may be.
I say given the price, it's worth trying them out. Go bunny hop a few kerbs, smash em over some potholes, and if they're still in one piece I'd say you're good to go.
Toseek carbon bars can be had for like 30usd delivered, weigh 220ish g, and the three I bought survived my QC. Don't knock the cheap Chinese carbon till you try it. Just bear in mind the QC is up to you.
