Most of the gaps my curiosity or mistakes find in my bike knowledge get filled from Sheldon's repository. He lives on in his body of work, and I'm humbled to benefit.

I just wanted to pay my respect to this great guy. His sharing of his knowledge really helped all of us a lot over the years of our cycling adventure, and he still continues to do so from the great beyond. This is the kind of legacy that all men should strive to achieve, really.
I salute you my dear brother, wherever you are right now. May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.

We should also recognize a debt of gratitude to Sheldon's wife, Harriet Fell, and his close friend John Allen, for keeping the site going!

When I first started volunteering at the bike co-op in Atlanta around 2008 there was a volunteer who had a portrait tattoo of Sheldon Brown on his leg, with his Eagle helmet, and the words 'ASK SHELDON FIRST'.

Agreed, Sheldon's information solves many conundrums, allows for options, germinates interest, and provides suggestions from a bicycle master mind. It also costs us lots of money. His writings have 'forced' me to buy many bikes :-) Has anyone ever seen a reference as to how many bikes he may have owned?

I hope that when the time comes that entire knowledge base is archived or the site is moved someplace where it can still be maintained. It is seriously indispensable.

I have visited Sheldon Brown's website often over the years and show it to non-bike friends for the humor! My favorite is Product 'W'!

I conversed with Mr. Brown on Google Groups before finding Bikeforums.net. Definetly a “giving” person.
