Bike pic mission game, if anyone wants to play.

This mission might be easier for those living in coastal communities. Roll down to your local marina, yacht club, or boatyard. The lat-long is usually posted at the dock house in those places. Also, hiking trail heads sometimes have the lat-long posted. I've also seen it at some city/town halls. We'll give it a couple more day before adjusting the mission.
Next mission: A (permanently affixed) latitude-longitude sign.

Is this mission really that difficult, or are people just not trying right now?

I'll go to the marina down the road and see if they have a sign. I know they have a sign regarding what UHF channel to hail them on, but it can be seen only from the water. I don't recall a latitude and longitude sign, but they might have one.

I do look at this thread every time I'm about to hop on my bike. I could have made a couple more missions to add on my success list, but I came across them too late due to work.

OK. We'll let it go through the weekend. If nothing by Sunday night I'll change/modify the mission

I struck out. I thought latitude and longitude might be on the sign at the entrance to our local marina, but I was wrong. Regardless, it would have been difficult to position my bike next to the sign.

Next Mission: Your bike with a pastel colored locomotive. Bonus points if your bike or water bottle matches

Next Mission Change
In light of the increasing need to stay out of crowds as much as possible maybe we shouldn't continue this quest thread in the same manner. In my rural area I don't often come close to anyone riding mostly country roads and the area where I made the locomotive photo was deserted on weekends, but I know I'm in the minority on that. How about if we change to unusual things that could be found closer to home? The challenges won't be as difficult but maybe participation will pick back up and be a good diversion - ride safe !
Next Mission: Your bike with a bird bath

Good! The mission had me worried. This is Norfolk Southern Territory. Our locomotives are black with a white horsey on the front.
I'll give it a few days before I take a photo of my unicycle next to the bird bath on the front lawn. That wouldn't seem match the spirit of the game. I'm sure someone can do better than that.

nothing to see here
I've been stuck inside. I live in the SF bay area and we've had a shelter in place directive for the last week. I haven't ridden my bike since it started although they made it clear it was allowed. Just stay patient with the game, we'll be back to normal in a few months.

Do open water bodies count as bird baths? I would need to peek into other people's yards to look for one, but a trip to a lake, river or seaside would be much nicer and safer too.

Well, if people are not going outside much and sticking closer to home I'm sure we can relax the original rules as much as needed. We might be able to do more. I mean I have a bird bath in my yard too. And if people want to do it like that, it's good with me. It seems like just getting outside at all might be a challenge for some people. So missions inside the house or outside in the yard I would think would be a good thing for some people to continue to participate.
So yeah, it's all good with me. I am fortunate that I live in a subdivision that people are still out walking and riding. And nobody is really close to anyone. And not a lot of people are out cuz there's a good bit of old people in my neighborhood. I've been riding my BMX in the parking lot at the park cuz obviously that's a more open space than my driveway and road in front of me. I find it interesting that people are bringing their kids to the jungle gym still. Not a lot but some. I guess the kids gotta blow of steam somehow. And hopefully they're washing they're hands....
And then I do a 2 mile ride at night and even before this I barely see anyone out cuz I go kind of late. Once it's warm enough for my wife to want to ride we will go after work together. But it still too cold for her. Heck we got snow yesterday. It melted by mid day though.
Anyways..... Whatever mission you feel is wise is good to go in my thinking. I pray everyone is staying healthy. I know another bike rider on a different forum who is in health care and those guys deserve a lot of credit too. Along with the Grocery workers. Brave souls right now.

3S1M said even inside the house can work while we're not "free-ranging" as normal. So somebody show us a birdbath

FWIW, I love this thread, and hope y'all are able to keep it going!
I'm probably out for a bit due to my current policy of contact-free bike rides (meaning I'll no longer be setting my bike down or leaning it against stuff when I'm out and about.) I might be able to grab a selfie shot, but I'm not so talented at that kind of thing. Times like these make me wish I had a kickstand!

Okay, I went to all the trouble of pulling my unicycle out of the shed and riding around the outside of the house to the birdbath on the front lawn.

Well...it is the "Bike" (as in bicycle) pic mission game. I only see a Unicycle in the pic. So...
Seriously...no qualms from me.

As the completer of exactly one mission, but a follower of this thread from the beginning, I have to say that if this turns into "lets find props in our yards", I'm going to be out very soon--that's truly boring. I'd much rather wait for someone to complete a legitimate mission than see this as a mere shell of itself. If we want to relax something to deal with the no-contact strictures, how about the "bike next to" requirement? Any part of your bike appears in the frame--handlebar, whatever, shall be deemed sufficient.
There's been missions that have taken days throughout this thread, let's not assume that having a couple of difficult ones in a row indicates no one is really trying.

Regardless of if this counts or not, here's two rivers for you. No birds in sight, but there was a flock of seagulls above me and, as it turned out, a swan about 100 m to the right.
