I have just won an auction and am awaiting delivery of a Panasonic Team 1200 Custom PICS bike. It appears to have an all Shimano 600 Gruppo and a lugged Tange Primier frame, here are some pictures from the auction. Once it arrives I will post more both here and in Classic & Vintage. Does anyone know if 1989 was the only year that PICS was offered for Panasonic bikes? Does anyone know what the "1200" stands for? I have seen pictures of "Team Custom" & "Team (Europe/Japan/America) Custom" Panasonic bicycles, but have found no reference to "Team Customs" with "1200" . Thanks for any information you can provide, once it arrives and I have had a chance to clean it and sort it our I will post more pictures. I have a sense that his is a rare bike, given not many were made and that each was a one-of according to the customers build choices? Thanks again.

Ok, I'll have to get better pics up, but have to wait for better weather. I've had this for a few years. The pics are from when I first got it. The original pics were lousy... I joke, but it must have been like a 1 megapixel camera that they used. It had cannondale panniers on it which I still have. The bike sat in a basement for 30+ years. If it's ever been ridden, I'm not sure, but for the most part its brand new. I haven't cleaned it, or replaced anything. I did remove all the factory reflectors...pedal reflectors as well, and have them set aside.

Hurray! Something like twelve years I've been a member....read a lot of threads, but would get frustrated in the past with posting pics....I'm sure some of you are as technology challenged as I am. Glad the pics worked. I've got a few more bikes to post up...

I'll add my '89 DX-4000 that I upgraded with Shimano 600 "tri-color" components, Mavic rims, and and bar and stem change to the roll:

Ill have to get a pic from the drive side. Full campy victory. All original except bar tape. I have the pedals and tubular wheelset, but put a chorus clincher wheelset on for the time being... i hate spending money on tires.

Just brought it home, a Panasonic Team America Custom. After lunch I will post a detailed review of this bike. Look for my post: The Second Unicorn-Panasonic Team America Custom.
"spoiler alert" in the last picture you can see something I missed until I brought it home.
Yes, the derailleur cables are both internally routed...

This bike is now in pieces and turned out to have a lt. blue mist paint with black headset cut out and a black panel on the seat tube. I can't figure out what this.

Could mist blue be silver? Sounds like a 1982 DX-4000. Do the tops of the rear stays have a little engraving on them?

This followed me home. It is mostly original and has a leading 6 in the serial number so should be a 1976 build. 1st generation Dura Ace in black. Cinelli bar and stem are not original.

There are some seriously beautiful bikes on here. My only Panasonic is very utilitarian. Black and a single speed.
I got this from a friend as a frame and fork with the headset and set post. It has hand built 27" wheels, with formula hubs.
Here is an add for the bike from 79...
I'd love to find a chain guard for it.

1985 Panasonic DX-3000 just bought a week ago. This will be a project bike which will involve switching my current components from a 2014 Bianchi Via Nirone frame. Frame has some rust spots and it certainly doesn't look quite as nice as the other bikes posted in this forum. Bike will be used sparingly when visiting my parents (I live on a different city).

First off let me express my deepest gratitude to ZeRinger and his work with the Panasonic Bike Museum. It was his videos that opened the doors for me...Thank you for your love towards those bikes! I owe you many beautiful moments I have had with my two stallions!
After getting infected with the Panasonic virus I set off to look for a PR6000 - the beauty of it an elusive dream that kept me going through classifieds months on end...eventually realizing I should just go ahead and get something instead of just sitting on my ass and browsing endlessly the internet. I found an ebay listing for a 1991 PR5000 with what seemed a complete original groupset and after a short negotiation the bike was at home. Oh boy, what a joy that was! It was a true barn find with all original components! (except the wheels that were upgraded by the dealer on request) from the original owner) It used to belong to an older gentleman who bought it in St Gallen, Switzerland while in his late 40s/early 50s and planned to have many rides, however after just a few kilometres parked it and never came back to it. The bike trader I bought it from told me it was a special bike for the now old man in his 70s who parted with it as he was just not going to use it again. After a very short ride I set off to lovingly take apart, clean and service it down to the last bolt while wearing white cloth gloves and listening to Smash Mouth - All Star. I enjoyed every moment of it and when it was ready I had a couple of longer rides in the mountains - it felt like flying a white winged unicorn! Unfortunately these are the only pictures I have, hopefully once the global paranoia is over I can make better ones.
I was not planning on using the bike everyday and soon afterwards I resumed looking for a second Panasonic, one which would not be in museum condition and I could ride in the city as a beater. Well I was lucky to find one while on a business trip in Bavaria - I bought it from a lady that had received it as gift and knew nothing about this Red/Yellow/Blue 1991 PR5000. It was a really funny looking bike with Dura Ace ST-7400 brifters and mixed up Ultegra 6400 groupset - the shifting was awful as the rear derailleur and shifters did not like each other by design. I was happy with my purchase...initially...until I realized this was also a very, very low mileage bike with its original groupset swapped out for used and worn out parts. The frame was in perfect condition and I decided to bring it back to its former glory - I wondered if ZeRinger slipped the same way, unwillingly, into the trap of hanging bicycles on the walls. Anyway I kept looking and eventually found a NOS period correct Shimano 6400 groupset and here are the results:
I have a feeling this may not be the last Panasonic for me, not until I build a Neo Retro Panasonic with a road classic steel frame and contemporary 105-Ultegra groupset.
