Tighten Chain

What tips and tricks do you do to tighten a new chain

as in i always run into this problem with a new chain

the chain link part, i am able to get it to fasten half way, but seems hard to get it fully , what methods you use to get it secure? or do you just keep spinning the crank around till it locks which sometimes takes a while?

To seat the quick link, rotate the chain around so that it is on the top between the chainring and the cassette. Squeeze the sideplates together between two fingers to prevent the odd chance only one side grabs, & with your free hand smack the pedal firmly/sharply/smartly (depending on parlance) in the drive direction. The link should set.

I just rotate the new link to the top half, squeeze the brake levers (so the bike doesn't move) and stand on one pedal. The link should click into place immediately.
