Trying out risers for the first time. Pretty fun!
They're slowly opening the lakefront trails back up in Chicago but I'm still not super keen hanging around crowds at the beach so my wife and I decided we are gonna hang out here and go fishing instead! Front rack is coming in the mail tomorrow so I can carry our cooler (hence the change of bars). Its so nice to be outside!

Today I built up a new 2019 Makino keirin frame: with 'new' meaning the frame had never been ridden or built out... Work which included an odd interaction at the LBS involving masked pleas for Paselas.
Riding this bike for the first time was one of the most amazing experiences I have had on a bike... I was giddy.

@Speedway2: You should go for it. One of the first things I did with my old langster was get a Zipp Vuka Alumina Base bar and some SRAM s500TT levers and loved that bike. I really want to build another bullhorned bike again. I love my drops on the new Langster but I do miss the 'horns. If you do end up swapping stuff get some really top notch cables and housing and improve your braking!

I also swapped the bar stem for a shorter one that was laying around. Bike feels different but in a good way and the brakes feel more "powerful"....

Always happy to help people make good cycling decisions. Drop bars are awesome but probably a lion share of people don't really use them to full potential but a bull horn can give you a lot of what you would use without the drop you won't. Plus I think they look great on a single speed/fixed gear sans extensions (or tri bars or whatever you wish to call them).

Thank you The bars are a Nitto B802 HT. The bike weighs about 8kg.
Edit: I should add that I narrowed the bars by 14cm...

the sci guy.....I decided on the pursuit bullhorns vs the flat one because of the "drop-angle" on top bar. I find it gives my wrists a comfortable natural break unlike the flat bar on my hybrid which made my writs a bit sore (after a long ride).
I'm not sure about the difference in reach between the pursuit vs flat Orign8's but the shorter stem length makes the bullhorns feel only slightly more "stretched" compared to the drops. I found this to be a plus climbing some of the small hills that I usually tackle.
So far I'm happy with the set-up and enjoying Single Speed Sunday (rides)

Saw an Asian guy shake his fist in the air and throw something in the dumpster. I grabbed it!
