Mixed-Doubles Madisons?
It's winter. Things are slow, but a thought occurred to me recently, has there ever been a coed Madison race?
I googled it, but best I could find was coed dorms at the University of Wisconsin- Madison. But, they do mixed doubles for tennis. It would be kind of neat to see how a male-female pair of racers would do.
There would definitely need to be some though behind the pairings. Having done a few Madison's myself, I recall how much easier it was with a partner smaller than me than one much larger than me. But still, it could be fun and interesting.

I've never heard of it, but it does sound like it would be fun. You should hit Dale up at Lexus, sounds like it's up his alley.
I found my favorite part of the Madison was not maiming (or being maimed by) anyone at every exchange

I've done some Madison exchanges with my wife, who is a good 50 lbs lighter than me.
She said it left her with sore arms and that it would have been easier for her with someone of similar weight.

Elitist
Real talk: What are the chances of finding 5 or more mixed pairs of Madison teams for an event? And if you do find 5 pairs, what are the chances of them being a fair match for each other?
That being said, there is sort of a precedence. I believe that team sprint in U.S. Collegiate Track Nationals is co-ed.

And and an aside re: ballet dancers. They are pros. Take injury in stride like the pro football players. My girlfriend knew Debra Hadley and told my of her surgeries. NFL qualifying. Later I was watching the two of them doing a goofy number with Houk doing cartwheels and somersaults over Hadley. A slight "oops" and Houk got her full in the gut with his elbow. She didn't wince, she did not break stride. I saw that and thought "like a pro quarterback going to the huddle after a very hard sack".

Back in the 80's when the Major Taylor Velodrome in Indianapolis drew big names, a co-ed team raced in the men's madison. IIRC, it was Mark Gorski and Connie Paraskevin. When he threw her in she was a bullet.
On any Friday or Saturday night in the summer you could see Gorski, Connie, Neilson Vails, Curt Harnett, the Jamacian National Team race, and whomever else showed up from around the world, for under $10. Good times.
