I was given this bike. It came to me from the original owner who bought it in 1974. He told me he took the decals and stickers off the frame thinking it gave the frame a cool look. I found a 1974 Gitane catalog online but it is in French. I知 looking to find out what model it might be. The dropouts are coined sheet steel so I知 guess the frame may be low end.

The tires are crusty but the frame is my size and it looks like some inexpensive servicing would make it rideable.

appears it may have begun life as the Interclub model

have not before seen one with Weinmann brakes however

the site includes a catalogue archive

stated date for the bicycle appears correct

there appears to be a transfer yet present on the fork blade; are you able to read it?

That's a neat bike and well worth fixing up to ride. I'm fixing up a similar quality French bike (a Peugeot UO 10) also from the 70s to ride.
