Hello all, been absent from Addiction and from riding too for the most part. Working thru the pandemic has been grueling, that’s all I’ll say about that.
I heard recently from datlas which has prompted me to post: Puppy Love herself has had a puppy! Well, two actually but one died. It was a complicated pregnancy in which she developed an inguinal hernia, a portion of her uterus was in the hernia and she fertilized an egg in the herniated portion of the uterus. For a little while had an embryo growing in the hernia but that embryo was eventually resorbed. So she had two puppies via csection (the csection was necessitated by the hernia), the one died at 6 days of age after 48hr of at-home neonatal ICU care by yourself truly. Oxygen, fluids, antibiotics, tube feedings. Tried really hard but the boy didn’t make it.
The girl puppy is named Smoke and she’s 16 days old today. She’s a hearty little thing. So cute. She just opened her eyes yesterday.

Not really. I've only ridden once since my hernia repair, three weeks ago.

Man! Its windy out already but the peak gusts of possibly 60 mph are not expected until later in the day/evening. Of course, it's trash/recycling day in my 'hood. Too many people don't properly secure their stuff. There is already trash blowing around in the streets and on the sidewalks.

Out of curiosity, is that about average for eye opening? I know nothing about puppy development, or any animal development for that matter.

Still don’t know when I’ll get back out. Hopefully as little Smoke gets stronger and more mobile, we’ll be able to come off 24/7 watch. Sometime in the next few days would be welcome.

Singleton pups sometimes develop a little more slowly as neonates because they don’t have the constant roiling stimulation of a pile of puppy litter mates. Smoke was 15 days old when her eyes opened. I was pretty happy with that because that signals leaving the neonatal stage for the “transitional” stage, which is a few days to a week long. They start toddling around and lapping liquids during this stage.
Once we see her first startle response on hearing a loud noise, that marks the end of the transitional period and we enter the socialization period which continues until around 12 weeks of age. That’s a two month window in which we have a lot of work ahead, sculpting her experiences which will shape how she responds to the world around her for the rest of her life.
Typically once a singleton gets out of the neonate stage, they make up for their developmental delays due to the increased volume of one on one interactions with dam, humans and household dogs. Versus being in a litter when your individual attention is limited by the presence of the other puppies.

For me (with tubes), when running 23's I do 90F95R; for 25's I do 80F/85R. YMMV.

I used to pump tires to max, but have seen the light. Best numbers are very individual and depend on tire, tire (and rim) width, weight, riding conditions, etc. but I do suspect you can lower your PSI significantly and may be pleased with the results. You can go crazy low if you drink the tubeless Kool-Aid.

Wow, that's a lot. It did occur to me just now that I was experimenting with lowered pressure last spring with the Detonators I tried out. I believe I liked it, then I started getting flat tires.... went back to gp5000 and forgot about the pressure thing. I'll have to try it again.

Around 14 days, but it can be as late as 20-22 days without it being a problem.

BTW...My kitty, Stephen, had to have surgery after three urinary blockages last year, including one two days after he was unblocked the second time. He did amazingly well and recovered with no consequences or issues like bleeding or incontinence during recovery. He even tolerated the E-collar with ease. The people at U. Penn were amazed at how well he did.
Also, while I was waiting outside to pick up meds for him one day, two young women drive up with a tiny kitty that had been injured. The tech came out to interview them. You should have seen the look in her eyes when they told the tech that kitty had fallen out of an 8 story window. Other looking scared, the poor thing looked fine. I had to call about Stephen a couple of days later and inquired bout the kitten. Only minor orthopedic injury. The person I spoke with said "Well, cats are very malleable."
