Do you have one on the shifter?

I'd throw an inline adjuster in the housing from the bar to the frame.
And next time let everyone know you're using road levers and save us some time.

You’re right, I should have been more specific.
I want to put a barrel adjuster where the shifter cable housing end would normally fit into that rear delailleur. I googled barrel adjuster and saw several types. Some look like they might work like I envision. I’ll note that I have no experience with inline barrel adjusters.
i could always put an inline barrel adjuster in another location as you suggested but I guess I’d like it attached to the rear derailleur if possible.
Thanks for the response.

Why at the derailleur? Then you have to get off the bike to adjust...if it's inline the housing up front you can adjust while riding.

I can’t say if it will work for your rear derailleur, but I added a Jagwire Sport Direct adjuster on a 9 speed XTR rear derailleur. I think the adjusters are technically designed for STI levers with external routing, but they fit in the RD sung enough to work.
Eliminating rear derailleur barrel adjusters has to be one of the most idiotic changes Shimano has made. I’m sure there’s a joke out there about how many people does it take to adjust a Shimano rear derailleur?

Thanks. I’ll try that Jagwire adjuster. I have no problem modifying the reciever hole in the derailleur or the barrel adjuster to make something work. This whole thing started when i bought a Trek Checkpoint frame for cheap with plans to build it myself. I bought a complete takeoff Sram Apex 1 groupset to build the frame. I bought the wrong groupset without a granny gear. Now I’m trying to recover while this bike sits unridden. I’m obviously a newbie at this stuff.
BTW I have a Serotta.
