Sold this Bianchi I cobbled together from salvaged parts last year for $50 just to make some room, thought it might make somebody a good campus bike.......
I open up FB Marketplace this morning and what do I see?

Clearly, those mudguards were worth negative $150; count yourself lucky you were rid of them.

Answer:
No good deed goes unpunished
Done the same thing years ago. Some University student needed a bike and gave a discount.

Vintage Ladies' 10-Speed Bicycle
$4,000.00
Description
This vintage bicycle is a one of a kind that was bought new in August 1972. It is a Monshee Mark IV ladies bike with riser type handlebars. Everything works, although the tires and perhaps the inner tubes will need to be replaced. The tires measure 26 inches by 5/4 inches . The Monshee bike parts were made in Japan, shipped to Canada and assembled by Norco. This was done to avoid import taxes. The bike is heavy and everything is original on the bike with the exception of the tires. The seat has some wear and there are scuffs on the frame, but otherwise everything on it is true and straight. It was always kept indoors when it wasn't ridden, and for the last 31 years has been stored in a shed. To sum up: it is a one of a kind, all original and in working order. I do not negotiate online. Serious inquires only. Cheers and stay safe!Senior Member

You're giving him way too much credit, the tree was just the closest thing to lean them against. Or that's where he found them.

So many roads ...
Looks like a great deal. I suppose if that rusty thing was 100% original the seller would want over $1,800. I'm going to see if he'll take $1,494.

"Great patina" and a ruined Brooks, plus rust and an ancient baby seat for a reasonable price.
