6th Annual Eddie Rando
Put on by Creekside Bicycles here in Parker, CO, this event was Ana amazing day to celebrate vintage and modern steel bikes. The group ride was fun To kick it off and then the festival was really well attended.
It was amazing seeing vintage components and technology as well as what modern frames and frame builders are still doing with steel.
Here are some photos:
88 years old and still riding. His bike won for best vintage bike.
We call this direct drive technology
You would have to back pedal while reaching back to change gears. First rear derailleur from Campagnolo.
Direct drive shifting on the from derailleur.

More photos of some modern steel bikes
Waterford in a cola color was stunning. Modern pain jobs really are something to behold.
This Gangl custom bike pain job stole the show to me.
Modern Italian lugged beauty.

This Hetchins was 🔥
They had it custom built to 126MM rear so they could build it up with vintage Campagnolo hubs and components.
Classic Hetchins seat stay design
Clearly they took short cuts with these lugs

no pics of the Raleigh Team and jersey?
I've got one and a small collection of team jerseys of that era, so it's always fun to see how other folks bikes and jerseys compare.
I've got a Hetchins Magnum Opus with curly stays too, but no chrome. It seems nearly impossible, but for me, the extra chrome is "too much". Definitely a matter of personal taste! No question that such a Hetchins is a big change from the usual stuff and lots of fun to look over and examine the details.
