Campagnolo 8V cassette hub groove

Is an O ring suppose to go in the grove at the base of the cassette hub where it meets with the hub body?

Or one could bring the hub and freehub body to a better hardware/industrial supply store and paw through their O ring selection. On line I use o-rings | McMaster-Carr for my needs. Andy

@paulkal - Thanks! the replacement hub had one. This one had string like material wrapped around in the grove. lots of grease so no water intrusion. @Andrew R stewart - Will have to do that. I have the right diameter but not the right cross section diameter.
