Newbie with BIANCHI question

Good Day,
I am a senior looking at a for sale ad on offer up of a Bianchi Backstreet for $300.
The seller clearly says up front this is a Japan built bike, but it looks to be a size that works for me and it is very, very clean.
I'm guessing it is a late 1980's vintage and has new tires and new Bontrager seat. And it is Celeste Green.
I'm thinking of offering $200 to $250, tops.
Pluses are size, condition, new tires, new seat, really clean, and nice Celeste Green paint.
But I'd sure like to hear from someone who had one first.
Thanks in advance for any advice,
Larry

Hello and Welcome to the forums. The Backstreet was a single year model in ‘92. Bianchi expanded their hybrid lineup and this was the top flight bike that year. The frame and for were full ChroMoly double butt Tange, and nice Suntour FS group. It probably sold for around $600 so if it is in real good condition $300 might not be unreasonable but less is always better

Thank You Bianchigirll,
You are the reason I finally joined the forum. I have been reading your great advice for a long time as a lurking visitor.
If anyone would know what kind of Bianchi I am looking at, you would be the one. So many thanks!

Boardwalk

I have a model beneath it; the 1991 Boardwalk. Pluses are 700c tires, lugged frame, and versatile riding position. The Celeste would be very cool. I may be wrong but mine may be Taiwan, so if the Backstreet is Japan, that would be more pride of ownership too. Sounds nice.

Thank you for the reply and the good info. Seller and I reached an agreement on price and will pick the bike up in the morning.
Yes the Celeste is good and the small frame also, which I need. If the bike is comfy then it will be my new friend.
