road riding in Bentonville Arkansas
I know I should post this in the regional thread but nobody seems to read those. We are going to Bentonville, Arkansas in July to ride bikes. I am told it is a big mountain bike area. We ride road bikes. Is there also good road riding? Thanks

yes - I did some road riding in the adjacent Fayetteville area years ago - hilly but good. Lightly trafficked. The only downside with AR is the dogs - numerous and seldom contained - be ready to sprint!

Maybe we should stay in Fayetteville instead. We ride on county roads in S. Texas so we always carry pepper spray.

I don’t want to sell the place short - maybe all those mutts were running up to say hello 🤔GCN did a video on YouTube recently featuring riding around F’ville - looked spectacular.

My parents used to live just north of Bentonville in Bella Vista. The roads are beautiful, but there's no way I would ride on them -- too many elderly people driving big cars. It's the kind of place where many people park by feel.

If all else fails, you can ride the Razorback Regional Greenway, a paved, 35-mile, bike-only "trail" that goes from Fayetteville to Bentonville, with easy access to Rogers and Springdale. It's quite lovely, although not necessarily a "hardcore roadie" kind of ride. There are even a couple of breweries along the way.

Check Strava, RWGPS, MapMyRide and others sites. Some have or did have "heat" maps to show what roads were cycled the most. Or you can just look for routes that have already been created in that area and "drive" them with google maps or google earth to see what you think of their condition and other things.
