Jack Taylor Touring Campy, TA, Phil Wood
Jack Taylor touring bike up for sale. $1400 plus shipping. Shipping $99 for lower 48 states. Pickup available in Northeast Ohio.
- 60 cm CTC seat tube, 58.5 CTC top tube
- Campy Rally RD, Campy bar ends, FD
- Phil Wood hubs with 27" wheels, 120 mm rear
- Brooks Professional saddle
- Specialies TA triple crank and pedals
- Front and rear racks and fenders
- Mafac brakes and levers
Cool touring set up. I am guessing the frame is late 1970s. No lugs. Paint is in really nice shape. Any questions or picture requests, let me know.

just wondering... do the Mafac canti's allow adjustment of the pad height, and if so, can they be adjusted to allow the use of 700C rims?

Normally can't imagine buying especially a JT, or anything else without lugs, this would be the very rare exception.

Whoever is acquiring this bike, I am pretty sure they will be happy. Really nice and in great shape. I love the white pin striping. I am have been thinking on doing something similar on my black Soma Smoothie. I have some white accents on it, and believe some low key pin striping would make for a nice contrast. Blue is my favorite color, but I own no blue bikes.

I am the buyer. Here is the crazy backstory on this purchase.
In 1978 two frames, this one #7574 and #7589 were ordered from Jack Taylor Cycles by a gentleman from the local San Francisco Bay Area. He rode one (7589) and stored this one (7574). He died and his heirs sold #7574 to Stone's Cyclery in Alameda CA. A friend of mine bought it from Stone's and built it up, but never rode it much, he felt it just didn't feel right. I purchased this bike from my friend in 2003 or 2004. In January 2007 I decided to sell it because I believed that I needed the room in the garage. This was an action I have always regretted because it really was a beautiful bike and it did have an excellent smooth yet responsive ride quality. It was also special because I bought it from my friend. I believe the next owner was located in New York if I remember correctly.

Fast forward 15 years. With all this in mind, I see the bike posted here on the Bike Forum yesterday. I had a hard time believing my eyes and my possible good fortune. I had no choice...I had to attempt to buy it back.
It is pretty much exactly as I sold it 15 years ago. Wow, crazy stuff, I feel lucky and excited to soon take it for a nice long ride and see it every day in my garage.

I am both horrified and relieved that I was busy all day yesterday and just now saw this. I was already starting to justify this purchase in my head when I saw that it was sold. When I read the story, I was happy to know it was going back to a previous owner.
