Road bike. Vintage 1985. Period complete. Shimano 600ex groupset
Greetings everyone. I wonder if some of you experts would care to speculate on a resale value of my ~1985 vintage bike. I am selling in Australia but would still welcome an idea of values from US or Europe.
Focus model RD-600. Complete Shimano 600ex groupset (6207 part #s), including cranks, brakes, hubs, chainrings and cranksets, shifters, derailleurs, headset, peddles and cleats.
Tange 2 ChroMo double butted seemless frame and forks - 22 1/2" (57cm) frame size. 12 speed. Metallic champagne colour.
Nitto bars. Every component period complete from 1985, except bottom bracket, chain and cassette.
Total Weight ~10.7kg.
One owner. Good condition (apart from saddle wear and missing plastic dust caps on pedals). When not on the road in use, it's been stored inside a house its whole life.

Welcome to the forum. I believe the subject bicycle is mid-1980s. The mono tone paint with contrasting head tube was popular during that era and the components are Shimano New 600EX which date to 1984-1987. However, they are the friction version and New 600EX rec'd an indexed shifting option in 1986, so this is most likely to be 1984-1985. It might squeak into 1986 but SIS was a big marketing feature by 1987, so I doubt it is that late. The frame's serial number may tell us the exact year and the identity of the manufacturer. I'll defer to other members on value, as I'm not familair with market conditions in Australia. Photo assist...

What an amazing post. Thank you so much T-Mar. Yes it was just before Shimano indexed gearing. You are quite right. It's very likely around '85, just as you said. I shall change the first post to reflect that.
I am still interested in market values elesewhere in the world if anyone wishes to speculate. It will be a couple of days before I can post photos here, sadly.
