I like Clif Shots but not the messy residue. I fold up the empties and tuck them just under the bottom hem of my bibs. They stay secure and I can continue to use the jersey pockets w/o getting sticky fingers.

OTOH, at least I could finish a PowerBar. Cliff bars usually take me at least half an hour. Take a bite, chew, swallow, drink, ride a bit farther, take another bite ...

Are you sure buying a sixer of that Light Beer doesn't guarantee I'll be surrounded by frolicking girls wearing bikini tops and cutoffs?

I can't believe what some people will start a thread to complain about.

Haven’t you learned anything? That won’t work if you ride a bent in comfortable shorts instead of $400 bibs looking like Superman racer boy.

My wife started buying the skout bars for our son and the little bars work great for me on a longer ride.
they get a little soft in the summer.
and it was mentioned earlier but I liked the powerbars (wasn't cycling at the time) when I needed something before class in college. They were sold in the food court and student store.
I think my favorite was the cinnamon apple and you could flick the wrapper back and forth by holding it on one end and you'd consolidate the bar into a block on the opposite end.
the shouts are organic but have a similar softish body similar to the power bars, but not as gritty.

Same here. The nutella like ones are awesome (forget what they call them... hazelnut?).
I did consume a lot of Clif Bars in the 90s though, they were pretty much the go-to at the time. Today there are much better options!
Powerbars... there's a flashback! Rock hard or completely dissolved... taste like cardboard. Clif Bars were golden by comparison.

I do the same - heck you have to wash your leg and shorts aftewards anyway, so the residue is exactly where it doesn't bother anyone and it's easy to clean up. I'm sad now because I thought I was so clever in figuring this out.

This news is alarming. If this catches on, other large companies might hire ad agencies to make their uber-capitalist corporate operation look like a lovable mom and pop roadside stand.
The logical devolution would be cute mascots or quirky individuals personifying insurance companies. But it's too early to get too alarmed. Let's wait and see how this plays out.

I used to like the Espresso flavor of those, but got tired of the mess if I tried sipping them periodically (too thick for me to take down all at once), so I moved to their Bloks for periodic help during rides where I felt like I was going to bonk. I like the salted watermelon.

I quit with any kind of "gummy" block stuff. I have too much dental work, much of it aging, and have no desire to pull out a filling or a crown with those sticky things. I can't think of anything they do that gels do much easier and quicker.

Consider eating real food rather than highly processed food. Good for astronauts, but dried fruits, , fresh fruits, and cookies like Fog Newtons are easy enough to carry and taste good. But, of course, you should eat what you like.

Fig Newtons aren't processed food? They are extruded out of a machine.
