Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

i really feel bad for the hassle you are going through. i wonder if when canyon had fedex recall the shipment back to you they slapped a label on the first thing they found. i prefer people working but i can see why AI and robots will replace many.

Most customers will go through the buying process with no hassle, issue or problems, and will therefore be satisfied.

For the small percentage of clients that will encounter issues during the process, this is the real test for a business in terms of customer service.

Well, I will assume that FedEx measured and weighted your item when you dropped it at the Post Office? I hope you'll have better customer service with them than with Canyon

I have plenty of proof. It is just hilarious at this point 😂 I think I see why the warehouse guy refused it Wednesday 😆

Sooo.... Someone bought a plant and received a bike! That's nice.

Looking forward to see if that other customer will flag it to FedEx or not.

I just hope it’s the right size, would hate for that person to go through this.

LOL! At least that part makes sense now. I thought it was very odd that Canyon refused delivery of your bike. But Fed Ex rocking up with a plant makes it seem like a reasonable action.

Update: I got separate emails stating that they received my bike and have issued the refund. It can take up to 48 hours for it to post. It appears as if we have an end to the saga. It has been an interesting experience to say the least.

Towards the end everything went so sideways that it was just comical. I have no I’ll will towards Canyon. Just glad it’s coming to a close. On a positive note I got a notification from my LBS that my special order Shimano S-Phyre shoes arrived today. Let’s hope those are the right size 😂

Congratulations.

It rapidly became far too absurd to be deliberate.

In fact, it is so absurd, it should reassure future customers that the likelihood of this happening again, but to them, is vanishingly small.

It does make me re-evaluate my stereotype of Germanic efficiency.

That warehouse intern does look slightly skeptical.

Trey83 I am sorry that you have had to go through this absurdist episode and glad that you seem to have maintained your sense of humor throughout; I doubt I could have after the plant appeared in the story.

Lol. Little man was my helper that day. We had a good day running around LBS’s after the FedEx drop off. Good times

My money is on Trey83 unboxing two shoes of adjacent sizes (e.g., 43 and 44).

Probably about the same odds of ordering a plant and receiving a bike.

I had once considered Canyon but with the consistent low/no stock and this kind of shipping saga the LBS easily earned my business.

it was the opposite for me when I bought my last Canyon. It was the local shops that had little or no stock of similar bikes.

I ordered a Canyon Endurace on Wednesday and fedex shows it just arrived (6:49 local time) at my local fedex destination center..wish they were open or delivered on saturdays....I did find the stock thing on the website was kind of wonky. I would check and it would say out of stock or more on the way and a few minutes later I would check and it would say 2 or 3 or 4 in stock. I think what happens is people would put them in their shopping cart and they would tie them up for a certain amount of time. I know I ordered mine it showed 2 available and a few minutes earlier it showed out. as soon as I put mine in the shopping cart I checked from my other computer and it showed 1 avail. I bought it and looked again and it showed 3 so kind of wonky no doubt. within a few minutes of completing the purchase I got notification my order was confirmed.....while typing this I got an email saying my bike was out for delivery...Fedex must be delivering on Saturdays now...fingers crossed

When you get it, make sure to put it somewhere with plenty of sun.. and you'll want to water it daily.
