Inaugural ride for Tommasini Tecno

A sweet bike!

Brand new build but classic style . . .

Put 20 miles of gently rolling concrete bike trail on the Tecno today.

The Tecno has 25 mm Veloflex Corsas. I was told by the bike shop that 28s won't fit on the Tecno so 25s it is.

Comparing with Kirk JK Classic, (28 mm Continental 5000 GP tires).

The Kirk's ride quality is magnificent but the Tecno is right there with it I'm pleased to say.

Turns on the Tecno are sharp and crisp, probably better than the Kirk delivers. Guessing this might have to do with the Tecno's narrower rubber.

Went with Centaur for the Tommasini in order to have silver running gear. The Kirk has Chorus and my initial take is that Chorus shifts with more finesse (probably to no one's surprise). Centaur brakes are dandy!

Thanks for looking!

Great to hear! I think what we really need are lots of close up photos of the bike’s details. Bellissimo!

Shop is correct, 25mm just fit in mine, 28s too tight you would/could damage paint and keep the quick-release skewers tight.

Whats the geometry diffs between your bike compares?
Suspect this accounts for the diff if turning and handling.

Nice build, the finishing kit really complemented the bike.
Which bar stem combo did you go with ?

Good point, but I got a professional fitting for the Kirk and furnished same measurements to Tommasini so a bit of mystery remains.

That matches my experience with my Bianchi. Tire callout sizes vary, so Continental 28s which run a couple of mm small, are fine, but Specialized 28s, which probably run 1 to 2 mm large, won't fit.

Consider that a professional fitting can be done on bikes with different geometry so your most comfortable riding and the riding styles maybe diff, like a racing vs a touring bike.

Looks like you added some close-ups? Those Centaur brakes really are nice looking. Polished aluminum components just look so good on classic Italian steel...
