Hello from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
I created an account to ask a question about 10 years ago (forgot I even had when I came back). Lately, I've been getting back to it; cycling 10 miles a day after years of not even getting on my bike.
A few decades ago I rode the C&O Canal end-to-end. Now, I'm looking to ride the GAP and C&O together this Fall. I took a 30 mile trip on a section of the GAP this past weekend and I think this fall is definitely doable.
I have a Trek 7300 and an old Trek 720 that I want to restore. I'll post pics once I'm allowed.

Yes, it is. I bought the 7300 and rode it for a summer and then haven't since then for reasons. It's feeling good to ride again for sure.

Welcome from SW Ohio. I went over and rode the Montour Trail a weekend or so ago.

It's pretty flat and could easliy be ridden on road tires (even 25mm) if it's been dry. There's a tunnel, east of the bike shop, that's closed. So starting at the bike shop and going W and N is the way to go.

have only ridden middle portion of the Montour trail - the middle portion is a nice ride / interesting ... lots of activity / bikes / people - especially near the bike shop (nice full service bike shop - including new and used bike sales, service, rentals - plus food including ice cream ... picnic tables ... etc)
never started a ride on the Montour trail - started on the Panhandle trail and connected to the Montour trail via the Montour trail connector ... the Panhandle trail intersects / travels underneath the Montour trail near the McDonald trestle
can see some pics from recent ride on the Montour trail (mile markers 17 - 29)
