Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The power is mainly limited to: ceremonial presentation of honours and awards, giving Royal Assent to a bill that has been passed by Parliament (making a law legally come into effect) and to dissolve and establish a parliament.
Mostly the dissolving/establishing a parliament is the formalities at election time. There has been one notable instance in Australia where the Governor General did dissolve parliament in the 1970s thereby forcing a general election before the election term was up.

I use them to carry groceries to the bike and save them for trash in camp. I was unable to get them in VT, MA and NY. I took to stuffing one or two produce bags in my jersey pocket when I would shop so that I would have something for trash in camp. If I ever tour again, I will take a reusable bag with me to carry groceries out to the bike.

In Philly, the bag ban has definitely cut down on street trash. I like to call the bags "Philly tumbleweeds."

I met him at Indian Dunes. He was with Tom Webb and they were testing a Maico that Webb was racing in National enduros. He was friendly and funny,, wanted to chat about my bike a bit. I think he was the humor in Modern Cycle before Dirt Bike.

RacerEx (from BF) told me Rick was the author of the second "Mister know it all" column. Pen name Rondo Talbot.

Often we would get a car that the customer complained of a burning smell and there would be a plastic bag melted onto the exhaust.

But, there's no bags to put the other trash in.

Day off work today to run some chores. My most exciting chore will be going to our local velodrome to do some aero testing (Chung method). I will have my full TT Setup and am testing the Giro Aerohead vs the Sworks from one or two generations ago. From photos, the Aerohead is obviously faster, but it will be cool to have the data.

After that, local coach and leader of a local charity for at-risk youth (San Diego Velo Youth) has coach's hours. I have some things to donate so I'll hang out for a bit after I'm done. Maybe some young kid can use these track wheels that I dont use anymore.

There are. What is banned is the providing of single use bags by merchants. Some small, neighborhood stores violate the ban if a customer asks for a bag.

In NJ, most businesses, including supermarkets, cannot even provide paper bags. There are exceptions, such as liquor stores.

I got Wordle in 5. The game has been repeating words. I distinctly remember not getting today's word the last time it was used.

Yup. Now we have bags of bags that we have to remember to take to the store. I always grab one when I go pick up The Older Boy from Safeway.

It's a maintenance PITA, but I have heard that putting OIL in those hubs (not grease) makes them roll faster. Problem is you have to reapply frequently. Is that a thing??
