Ah ... 20 years for YOU. What if I am already 20 years older than you? Do I have to wait 20 years more for you to be ok with an e-bike to ride one too? That is exactly how some here are acting. And ... not wishing this on you, but ... what if 20 years arrives ahead of schedule. Like, I don't know, a few months from now, because of an injury or something? Does there have to be a condition on it always? What if there is a 13% climb that I need to climb, and that is why there is a motor hanging off the crank of MY bike?

You could get a safety vest with a reflective triangle that says, “Disabled” or “Too old for this sh:!” Or you could walk. Or you could put a granny gear on your bike. Or if you are rushed for time, drive.

FWIW, there is an "Adaptive Cycling" sub on BF. Don't know how much ebike content but likely not as much as the specific ebike sub.

He made a self depricating remark about himself. I'm sure he doesn't give a crap about what you ride.
Talk about a fragile ego.

Why are you getting all butt-hurt by this post? He wasn't saying you had to wait 20 years, he was referring to himself. He also acknowledged the possibility of an e-bike.

Not me. When it's over, it's over. Find something else.

Thank you, but no. An e-bike is not for me, and I have no plans to get one in the near future.
As the birthdays add up, I am waging a vicious struggle to maintain fitness. To me, getting an e-bike will be to admit defeat.
There are guys 10-15 years older than me who can ride me off their wheel, without using an e-bike. I want to be like them.

And when I get fit enough to race again, I'm gonna beat that guy who had two artificial hips who used to beat me.
edit: the artificial hips were not motor assisted.

You know, I just tried to count all the subforums on BF and stopped at 30 and there was plenty more to go! Some overlap would be inevitable, and I haven't seen that become this much of a problem until now. That e-bike topics would surface in the 'Fifty Plus (50+) subforum should not surprise (or annoy) anyone. Where the eff else? The main Electric Bike forum is for the nuts and bolts of electric bikes but it isn't hard to see that people over 50 have been among the early adopters and would want to talk about issues beyond "what brand of e-bike should I buy?". I'm sure I've seen upset posters advised to leave certain threads if they find them offensive.

That’s precisely what I told my SO. It’s one thing to be defeated … quite another to ADMIT it.
In so many ways, and I’m so many contexts, I know precisely what you mean.

I'll admit to not keeping a tally but I'd have guessed chain lube. Do ebike threads get contentious in the ebike sub? That might be an option for people who don't want different opinions.
