I have a friend who builds and rides those twelve-foot tall bikes but don't have any photos handy. Those are crazy ... absolutley safe unless anything goes wrong, in which case you have to fall twelve feet to find out how bad the road rash will be.

Mine is Beverly Hillbillies have a cameo on Firefly. 20 year old 3x9 105 on a 50 year old department store frameset, zip tied bottle cages. You just have to figure out what aesthetic you're going for, and then commit. I'm deciding between Telperion and Laurelin for my next bike.

That top bike isn't goofy, it is a very practical bike for 4 riders (say a family). I would happily ride one if I had enough people to do it.

^ Yes, those bikes. That one is a slightly less well engineered than what I have seen my friend ride, but that is the sort of bike. Standover height of seven feet makes stop signs a bit of a challenge.

To think we once had circuses to put these kind of skills to work!
Good choice, passing on clips and straps.

One thing about tall bikes with a direct drive - no worries about cross-chaining.

A lot of responsibility !
the captain said they were having trouble with rims failing. I had a set of Mavic Rando M5s which are about the toughest beefiest rim ever !
Wanted 150 for the pair ! "Too much money" he said
