Sing while you ride?

My younger son was with me in the car yesterday when an Eagles song came on. I start singing along with it: "Well, I'm a runnin' down the road trying to losen my load; I've got seven women on my mind..." In any event, he says, "How do you know all of the words to that song?" Not an unreasonable question given I forget more things that you can shake a stick at. (BTW, you can shake a stick at an a whole lot of stuff!) Then it struck me that this is the song his uncle and I used to sing when we were riding together. I'll bet that song got sung (badly, I might add) thousands of times by the two of us. So, am I the only one who has a "riding" song or are there others of you out there? What do you sing as the miles go by?

I often sing while riding (in my mind, I need air for breathing ). Sometimes I start in the morning with a certain song and finish in the evening (after a long ride), still with the same song.

One of my girlfriends and I have been known to sing "Oh, What a Beautiful Morning" when the spirit moves us. I met up with a guy on BRAG several years ago and we spent several miles singing old Latin hymns from our days in the seminary. We got quite a few strange looks from folks who hadn't heard "Tantum Ergo" and "O Salutaris" on a bike ride before.

Now there's a very under rated band I haven't thought about in years! Now I won't be able to get the introduction to that song out of my head the rest of the day...

I remember the words to reams of songs. I usually sing along if I'm alone in the car, and I sometimes sing softly or "think" the words to a song when I'm riding. The other thing I do on a bike, if I'm upset about something is rehearse what I might say (or should have said) to whomever.

Don't think it matters if "Brenda Lee is coming on strong..." If his life is like mine, when he gets home, she'll be alseep!

If you can sing- you must be enjoying the ride and things must be going well enough in that you can find the breath to sing. I have a problem coming up as I used to play in a pop group in my youth and changed over to folk as a solo player on a 12 string. My co-rider on the Tandem found out about this and he used to play a Guitar many moons ago and he has been practicing. Now how do we stop falling off the tandem without damaging the guitar that is bound to get out on some of the charity rides eventually?

Tried them and they don't work. They get in the way of the kaftan from the folk singing.

I don't sing while I ride, but all day today I had "What's New, *****cat?" running through my brain, and I swear i haven't even heard that song in years. I tried getting it out with a couple of choruses of "It's a Small Small World" (think Disney) which usually does the trick but no dice.

Whoa oh oh ah.....

EDIT: I notice I've been censored! ROFLMAO! Okay, "What's New, Kittycat?" (Does that help?) I think the singer was Englebird Humperdink.

Oh yeah! I sing quite a bit when I ride. Sometimes songs I don't want to be singing. The latest I remember singing was "Please be With Me" which is somewhat of an oldie by Clapton.

Me too. But sometimes the that same song gets annoying when it seems impossible to switch to a new one!

I THINK that was actually a huge hit by Tom Jones. Ha Kittykat

I wear earphones and listen to music while doing long solo training rides. In those cases it's a lot more fun singing when on the bike than in the shower!!

I don't sing while riding. Trust me, you never, ever, want to hear me sing anything.

I do sometimes break into a whistle though. I have found this to be very handy when approaching pedestrians on bikeways. The themes from old 60's sitcoms such as "The Berverly Hillbillies" are easy to whistle, and seem to work. The theme from the Addams Family works well too.

Hmmm, no I guess I don't sing while riding. However, my daughter on the tag-along sings all the time.

I often have oldies on the MP3 player or the FM oldie station. I normally don't sing along when others are on the trail, but the people that live along the trail only have to hear my off key "singing" for a short moment.... Doubt many know the words to the "Slug Salting Anthem", (Riders of the Purple Sage),
one of the odder ditties.

Well I don't sing while cycling, but tunes do run through my head. Most lately it's been "Where's the money" by Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks.
