My “New” 1970 64cm Spence Wolf Cinelli
Hi Folks,
I thought that folks might like to see my 1970 64cm Cinelli Super Corsa. I bought it earlier this year. I believe the previous owner is the 2nd owner. He owned it for 10 years and he never rode it. It is in completely as-delivered condition.
It’s a full “Alpine” conversion with Spence Wolf long cage Campagnolo RD, TA cranks with TA Criterum chainring adapter and triple conversion, Campagnolo bar end shifters, TA handlebar water bottle cage, Mafac CP brakes with Weinmann levers, rare Phil Wood high flange hubs, tubular rims and a tied and soldered rear wheel.
The frame was originally yellow and was repainted in a shade of Porsche Green. The head tube badge was not replaced and the mounting holes were not filled.
I’m intending renovation not restoration: new consumables and wider bars and longer stem.
I hope that folks enjoying seeing it. Thanks for looking!

Here’s the bike the day I picked it up.
The chrome is in great shape.
Chrome rear triangle.
Campagnolo Nuovo Record rear derailleur with Spence Wolf long cage.
VERY narrow 38cm Cinelli handlebars and TA handlebar cage.
Campagnolo bar end shifters. The clamp-on BB cable guide (not pictured) is mounted backwards😱
TA cranks with triplized Criterium chainring adapter.
Brown Brooks Professional saddle still looks poor. I applied some Obenauf’s Heavy Duty leather preservative and used 3M scouring pads & brass polish to remove the green corrosion from the rivets. More work needs to be done on them…🤷🏿♂️

Fantastic! Welcome to the Big Ol' Honkin' Cinelli Club. As the owner of two mid-1960s 64cm SC's, I suspect you will love the way it rides. If not. you know where to find me . . . .

Thanks for the comments! Actually, I have TWO Cinellis
My other Cinelli. 1968 65cm Cinelli SC with Speciale Corsa decals. A repaint, it never had any chrome or drilled holes in the lugs.

lovely, thank you for sharing it with forum!
hard to imagine Spence would have let it out the barn without his trademark Brake Boosters
expect 1970 late enough that it has a 70mm shell

I think the color is just splendid! I’m still fairly ignorant about builders and brands but my eyes tell me that is a fine bike. The lines. The geometry. The lugs!

Huh, never saw a BB cable guide mounted on the seat tube before! Easily fixed.
That's a beauty, Jacob!

Love it!
About the rear derailer, I think it might be missing a couple parts. All the Spence Alpine conversions I can remember had chain guides on the top and bottom pulleys. Older ones used parts from French Cyclo, then I assume the supply of those dried up and he started using plain washers.
Another variant used cage plates that just extended further, above the upper and below the lower pulley, in lieu of guide plates — not my favorite.

Very nice. I actually like the earlier bike better, but that's just me
I think you will find that the "alpine" modded rear derailleur shifts like a soup sandwich
Make sure cinelliguy gets the serial numbers
/markp

Here’s a close-up of the backwards derailleur cable guide…🤷🏿♂️
Thanks for pointing out the RD cage variants. If mine was originally equipped with the Cyclo guards, the bottom one is missing.

Very nice, I’m a sucker for a green bike, especially a Cinelli.
After looking at the first picture and before reading comments about the RD conversion I was thinking “maybe I can make a long cage conversion from scraps laying around the shop” but clearly there’s more to it than that.
