Terminology question
i have a mad scientist project bike with drop bars and a coaster brake, and was wondering if there is something that one can bolt on the drop bars to grab in order to take the place of brake levers. i don't want to install a set of lever housings with the levers removed if there are "thingies" designed for that purpose. does that make any sense?
Once again, this forum is my friend! all set and thanks!

there are!!
Both Cane Creek and Die Comp make exactly what you seek to go on tandem drop bars.

couldn't find any on ebay, but an image search showed Walmart, a place I've never shopped. Had no idea they have bike parts.

scroll down because they are out of stock. But the image is there.

It's a simple question; no need to call names.

Your words hurt!!
ha
i also have these.
Some kind of dia compe knock off. They aren’t exactly lever shaped, but give a good place to pull when honking.

I'm the dummy. They are dia-compe. Look at the packaging.
I saw this, but just the covers at this fine ebay seller. Half off even!! https://www.ebay.com/itm/31482066409...Bk9SR87v3Ye5Yw
Or, for what I paid, ($35) I'll sell you my NOS kit which includes the parts you need.
Message me.

found the cane creek ones at a OKC shop
https://www.thebikelabokc.com/produc...s-164148-1.htm
But, I think I have a used pair as well. I was trying to figure out the best method for my tandem stocker. (now fiancé')

Considering what the Dummy levers sell for your better off heading down to the LBS and rumming in the used bin for a pair of ratty old levers and triming them down

I might go with new Shimano BR400 levers for a better value in comfort, appearance, and possible future opportunities.

If it’s a bike from 1936, and you want to be accurate, the top tube logo ought to be B17. It was first flown in 1935. B52s had to wait until the 50’s

there is a strong possibility that the claim about being a stickler for accuracy was blatant lie. and not the first one either! (and no crude comments about my girlfriend either!)

Dia-Compe DC138 hand rests were typically paired with a set of Dia-Compe guidonnet-style brake levers for a more upright position on drop bars. I built up a cockpit in this style a decade ago but found guidonnet levers to be too flexy for my tastes:
Dia-Compe also makes the HR-07 "tandem hand rests":
