Holy crap this Muc Off tape
Frustrated after trying to seal one tire so I removed the old tape. The residue from Muc Off tape is horrendous. I should have stuck to Stans. Been at for an hour with isopropyl alcohol making very little progress. Unfortunately I purchased so much of this stuff have to use it up. Is it ok to just clean off as much as possible and just lay new tape down on the sticky parts. I might just throw a tube in for now but should still tape the rim holes.

Ummm…There’s no law saying you have to use it up. And, based on your experience, I cannot imagine why you would. You feel me?

Personally, I prefer the Muc Off tape to Stans.
For removing the adhesive, I would suggest something like Goo Gone, which is designed to do exactly what you're doing. Give it a wipe with iso alcohol afterwards before installing new tape.

What’s the problem here with not removing all the old glue?

Hmmm...I use a butane torch for other things, but had never figured out how to use it on my bike. Now I know!

One word to remove the gunk, Acetone. Any don't worry about it mixing with alcohol, as both together are delicious!
And people, stay away from Stans, MucOff, etc. overpriced tapes. Order up a few rolls of Scotch 8898 tape, comes in several widths and flavors, and costs, even with shipping, a lot less than these other pretenders. There's a lot more than ten yards on each roll. I get mine from Hughes, I believe out of Sacramento CA. Order a bunch, and share with your buddies.

I was going to suggest acetone as well. I'm not familiar with 'Goo Gone', but if it's anything like 'Sticky-Stuff Remover' (i hope nobody paid the marketing man for that name) that we have over here then it has a tendency to leave an oily residue which you'd probably have to remove before putting new tape on.
