I got two of these valve core tools because (1) I now carry a pump that has a hose that I have to screw on my valve and (2) some tubes now come with the core not very tight. Ugh. So now I carry this tool in case I need it again.

2 Jagwire stainless steel der cables, and a JW stainless brake cable. I'd like to buy them locally, but the closest LBS sells cable housing for $4/foot and the KMC 8 speed low end chain for $25 or $30, and the 2nd closest changes prices on inventory when the price for new inventory goes up. The last time I bought a JW stainless bale from them (a year or 2 ago), the package was marked, IIRC, $5.99 or $6.99, and their computerized system charged me an extra $1.50. That was after selling me a tire marked $19.99 for my grandson's bike but charging me $24.99.

They can rob me when I need the item right now - but that teaches me to stay out of their store.

I grew up in small retail. When my Dad mismarked an item, he honored the marked price and corrected his mistake on the rest of inventory.

I got in a new set of Ritchey Zeta Classic wheels today in polished silver from Bike24. Just like the Campagnolo Zonda's I got from them last year these were terribly packed. At least this time the wheels were in foam bags and they put some packing paper in the box. Nothing done though to keep the wheels from bouncing around and the skewers were just thrown in the box. When I opened up the beat up box I found parts to the skewers missing . No doubt lost through the opening in the poorly sealed box. I did take pictures and opened a claim with Bike24. We'll see how that goes.

On a side note, they list the wheels at 1440 grams. Now I've seen plenty of reviews stating the wheels do weigh more so I was curious what they would actually weigh. I got 1587 for both wheels on my scale. That's a good bit of a difference.

Now to decide it these are going on the Meile or the Moser.

But I also got in a real steal of a deal I stumbled on last week looking for parts for the Sancineto.

One bulk buy landed me a 2011 Pegoretti Duende frameset in my size.

A Colnago CT-1 frame with a Force fork. This is a 57 CTC set tube but a 56 CTC top tube. Not sure what to do with this one as I have never made a 57CM bike work for me yet.

I have to agree. Makes up a bit for all the money I lose on most of the bikes.

I just went over most of the stuff and have found no real issues. The Peg frames is in great shape with only some paint loss on the rear drop outs. The Collnago has a bit more paint loss mainly around the BB but really it looks great as does the fork. All the parts seem fine. And now I'm about to attack the wheels. I have seen one slightly bent fork on the Record wheelset so I'll get the LBS to swap that.

Even better, I just found my cutters. Maybe the Miele will get done today after all.

A rare gift from the Trash Panda Werks graced my mailbox today! I have been muddling along with a very slow build on a Trek 950, and spending time coaching college golf. I’ve been remiss in posting my ill gotten gains. I got what was supposed to be M6 screws for Vickie’s eyelets but are actually M5s so they’ll go on Samantha instead. Along with a belated chocolate bunny I got these great buttons. I also realized I hadn’t seen either of Oxipulse meters so I got a new one.




My old friend Ted was nice enough to remember my birthday.

Not one, but two pairs of Specialized Touring pedals. I would also like to take a moment to thank the eBay seller, funthingsfound. I don't know if they are a BF, CR, iBoB or CABE member, but given that so often what we see reported are negative interactions with buyers and sellers, I thought it worthwhile to point out a seller who went above and beyond.

I have an eBay search set up for these pedals. Most of the time, nothing turns up, the match is accidental, or the seller is keyword spamming (else how would I see a half dozen cranksets???). I was quite surprised to see two pairs of these pedals in my search results the other day. I looked at one, decided to buy it, and pulled the trigger. Then I looked at the other and realized they were being sold by the same person. I contacted them and asked if they would combine shipping. "Sure!" I said I would purchase them and he could refund me whatever he thought was appropriate. I bought those and paid the full price with tax and shipping. He refunded not only the shipping on the second pair, but a further $7! So now I have another saved search on eBay, this time for the seller.

Looks like very good fun.

Appears all fittings original/correct - even still has its 151BCD.

Looks like it may be once again on the small side.

This is probably the final year Bozzi would have fitted and Ambrosio Champion; the 3TTT Gran Prix launched ~1963-1964.

Also about the final year it would have been fitted with the GS rear mech; the Record model launched December 1963 and would have been fitted to 1964 models.

Should you choose to convert to downtube controls you will need to locate some Gaslos. Happily replicas are now being offered so no more rent payment for a set.

Excellent to see it came with the seat binder.

Expect front mech will exhibit retension screw in back of pivot post.

If you have not done so already you may wish to add the serial to Mark's data base.

Is the Fothergill still on the front burner? IIRC at last report you were searching CL bits for it.

It should be fun. It seems to have the bulk of the original parts including the narrow seat post clamp and the Brooks Campagnolo saddle. Besides the crappy rattle can paint, it's in better shape than I thought it would be when I pulled the trigger on it.


The Fathergill is ridable, I rode it on the Peninsula ride earlier in the month. It's a pretty fun ride. I have some more British parts that came in for both Jimmy and Hetch that I need to find time to install. Once I install them I will update my build threads on them.

Today was two 7800 cranksets. One brand new and one slightly used. Both come with BB also, cool! I plan to pair these with the two DA 7700 groupsets I have in my stash. Both of the goupsets look great except for the cranks. Plus I believe the 7800 setup is lighter with it's BB over the Octalink ones and those heavy BB's. Oh and the orange bolts are just for the bottle cages on the Miele Latina.
