From the not-so-clear photo on page 28 of the 1982 Schwinn catalog, it looks like a stamped-steel Shimano derailleur. That being said, I worked on a Cruiser 5 recently that I seem to recall had a Suntour GT rear derailleur on it - which could be original or aftermarket.
To my knowledge, Schwinn never manufactured their own derailleurs. However, their practice up until the mid-80s was to commission parts to be made by major manufacturers such as Huret, Shimano, Normandy, etc. which would be marked "Schwinn Approved."
