Fiori stamped Ofmega cranks

I saw a really rough looking bike with mismatched wheels for sale about 10 minutes from my door. The main picture was really small (about 1.5 inches wide) and the only other photo was an in close photo of the stem, focused on the 3ttt logo. Bike was a very dirty Fiori.
Asking $75 Canadian so I went and checked, hoping the cranks were Campagnolo.

This photo is mine to show the bike as found. Sad end for a bike with Columbus tubing, though components are mostly in very good shape. It had the 3ttt stem, Modolo America brakes and levers, an OMMAS headset with almost mint races and bearings, Campagnolo 980 front and rear derailleurs and the surprise was the Nouvo Record shifters which will soon be on my Batavus......

Cranks were Ofmega but they are stamped with a flower. The flower was originally the head badge for Fiori.

Posting this because there have been references before to Ofmega cranks stamped "Bianchi" or other brands but no online reference to them stamped with Fiori. Nice part is the stamp is vague enough that they can placed on any other bike and probably no one will recognize them as being out of place,.

Photo of the flower symbol stamped on the Fiori forks.

As an aside, I saw the weird stamps on the bottom bracket cups (34.8 x 24) and thought I'd got another bike with an Italian threaded bottom bracket but no, it's just a metric stamp for 1.37 x 24.

Forgot to ask, - does anyone know what hoods will work with Modolo America levers?

I copied this image of a generic lever to show the model

Those look like Modolo 919s, but 920s or any Campagnolo-compatible his will fit. I just put a pair of 920s on some Campy levers.

You don't mention why it's a "sad end" for the frame. Is it damaged beyond repair? The top tube looks rough, but I can't really can't tell anything Else from the pic on my phone.

I simply meant that it is sad that it was allowed to deteriorate to this stage.
The paint is really bad with a lot of exposed steel thats started to rust, more than just rust that can wipe off. It would be a candidate for a repaint but with the C&V market in freefall, there's not a lot of people who'd want to pay for a repaint. I will put it aside for a guy I know that would fit it and see what he thinks.

That’s a beautiful color. Never heard of Fiori, oddly. Love the understated panto on the crankset.

What size is it?

I'm more of a patina-than-paint kinda guy. I'd dunk it in an oxalic acid bath then give it a coat of wax. Vintage steel bikes are unlikely to be subjected to the vagaries of bad weather or leaned haphazardly against walls or bike racks anymore. I'm guessing it would survive just fine with the right steward.

jdawginsc I think it's a 54cm but not sure. Size stamped on underside of BB. The fixed cup was torqued in tight so I dropped it with a friend and then biked back later and we got the fixed cup out. Since I was on a bike for the 2nd trip, I left the frame. I'll go back this afternoon and measure it.

smontanaro I agree with the correct steward idea. I have a few in mind.

jdawginsc It is a 54cm. Fiori was a company started up by the Canadian maker Norco. IIRC Fiori was created to attract those who thought that having an Italian name meant quality bike.
Unsure the serial number formatting or if 05 66 means anything...
To bad @T-Mar wasn't around......

chainset is Competizione / Competition model

---

wrt OMMAS name

this is the parent entity of the products offered under the Modolo name

when one gets far eno' in the rearview mirror brakes were manufactured bearing the OMMAS name

had not heard of a headset from the firm, which certainly does not mean none were produced

the unrelated OMAS company offered headsets, hubs and bottom brackets

I thought it might be Canadian. Might be another marquee to add to the “one bike from each country” idea if I ever decide to go further.

I am betting that will clean up well with elbow grease. Matching the scuffs with touch up might be tough...which is why I use nail polish! A bazillion colors!

forum has had a number of threads discussing marque examples

T-Mar has written in detail on origins of NORCO & Fiori

identity of Fiori vendor is known but me roosty "braine" cannot pull it up...

+1 on nail varnish - must have close to one hundred bottles - especially handy for frosts, pearls and metallics

"me polish be na'er chipped"
