With bicycles What I was and What I am are much different.
I am no longer Running, Walking, Hiking, Camping, Climbing, Diving, Spelunking, Chaining, Motorcycling, Active Duty... Ha
Bicycling is one of the few things I can still do on a good day. And in bicycles all that's left is joy of resurrecting old bicycles and doing short rides.

So what kind of Cyclist am I?

ah, ok. Yes, Rainbow Cycles. I could not recall the name. They and Scott's Cyclery were the two shops in town. I bought my first road bike from Scott's. And yes, you're 18 years older than I am.

Whenever I cycle the Airline Trail through Willi, I like to get off it and ride around town to bring back memories of my youth (like working at Benny's Home and Auto and Stan's Auto Parts).

Based upon my performance on Saguaro National Park's Cactus Loop Drive on a visit to Tucson last Sunday, perhaps I should change my byline from The Wheezing Geezer to The Gasping Geezer. I can identify with all the folks who's own cycling identity amounts to SLOW. But I am trying to get as fit as I was in the fall of 2020, a modest goal, but I'm 3 1/2 years older now. I'm a bit of a Fred, as well, and an occasional poser too, for comic relief.

I love this thread's invitation to reminisce. Because, in my previous youthful incarnation, I was a road sprinter. When I was a new Intemediate, I didn't know that yet, and I was skinny enough to hang on grimly to a real climber's wheel on Mt. Lemmon, losing the sprint to him after I mistook a group of spectators for the finish line and went way too early. More (deeply regretful) gasping! My Tucson Wheelmen cycling nickname was 'Freight Train', perhaps for sound effects as well as speed, now that I think about it. Imagine a 6'4" sprinter on a 26" frame huffing and chuffing past you, inexorably, as the finish line nears. I liked long, drawn-out sprints, and won precisely my share of them.

Mr practical here. A commuter in a large city. Red lights and stop signs, trafic, large SUV s around. Safety is an issue and bike theft. Yes, mud guards and front and rear racks needed as well as lights and reflectors. I don’t own a Lycra outfit and trying to convince people that adult small wheel bicycles exist.

I also spent a lot of time at Scott's. I think it was about 10 yrs ago that Scott was diagnosed with cancer. He hung in there but eventually sold the shop. Then last year he died. Very sad.

I'm in the old and slow category for sure. A confirmed plodder. But I ride solo and passing cars can't really tell if I'm moving at 14 mph or 20 mph so I might be mistaken for a legitimate roadie.

Guess "observer" might apply. I like to ride and take in the surroundings. Boring rides with nothing interesting to see don't appeal. Example: I live in a development, and can ride out of my garage and around the development to get some miles in, if I'm scrapped for time. But I have to force myself to do it. Same houses, nothing too interesting, doesn't vary much from ride to ride (as woodlands will do), so other than getting some exercise and miles, too boring. Plus it's only 5 miles round trip, so have to do repeats. Guess that's why (before we moved), I enjoyed mtb and rail-trails. I'm 21 years older than I was when we moved, so might not take in some of the mtb trails we used to ride, but I'd give it a go!

I'm a commuter, moderate speed club cyclist, and eBike casual rider.

As for sprint vs. climber vs. whatever else, I would have to say my strength is in endurance. I can ride 30 miles at ~ 16-17 mph (not impressive) or I can ride 100 miles at ~ 14 mph with equal effort. (slightly more impressive?)
