Brake lever?
Does anyone know of a vintage aero lever that is slotted? I really like the look of the slotted levers but the ones I am finding all seem to be non aero and I don't dig the cables popping out of the top and flopping around over the cockpit. I did find one example made by shimano but the slots are not round, more of a rounded rectangle shape and I want round.
if this is not a thing, can anyone think of any negative repercussions to drilling holes in an unholy lever?

Is this the type of lever you’re referring to? These are Gran Compe levers, not sure exactly what vintage.
Edit: I now see you want round, these seem more like the Shimano levers you describe.

Suntour Superbe had some, double line of slots for better speed I think Universal also has them, but I remember those more for the "Universal" and diamond pantographed front.
And if you have the moola, there are these guys...

Drillium is not for the faint of heart...which I mean to say, not for me.
Aero Gran Compe were slotted. Not sure any aero ones had the round. Maybe Modolo had the either-or levers?
New Tektro brake levers have some drillium and another brand (maybe Velo Orange) had some.
EDIT: Origin8

Here are the modern Origin8 levers. Not the greatest pic but you get the idea. Pretty nice levers for the price. I’m not sure if they’re still made, got these about 10 years ago.
TRP makes a similar, higher end lever.

POV: It is 1588 and you are a European Lord preparing for the battlefield. Your squire comes in your tent and tells you that your horse died. For a moment you are upset but then you remember that you have these levers on your bike......
Out of curiosity, how much moola we talkin? Ive got an extra kidney I dont use.
The origin 8 looks like what I am after but feels like cheating as they are modern.....I'm playing a character here and that character lives in the 90s
My Joints, lungs and ears don't work very well but my heart is still kicking pretty hard....when the time comes this will give me and excuse to use my drill, bits, and vice I guess. I'll be the only guy in fake 1995 with drilled aero levers.

Personally for my casual riding, I am a fan of non aero levers because of the ease of mounting of my favorite mirror. I don’t feel safe without a mirror.

That was the one I thought was pretty ingenious back in the day. I couldn’t remember what it was called, but remembered reading about it a Bicycling ad in the 80s. Luckily EBay had one.

Those look money, but my ‘occasional engineer’ brain can’t get past how little actual material is left around the club cutout
