How rare are tall 3RENSHOs?

Hello all, I searched for awhile to find one taller than 59cm. I found this 62cm and it seems that there aren't many out there. How rare is it really? Let see some other tall beauties.

As far as I know, they are quite rare. Domestically, they didn’t make them in 59-60+ cm (maybe a few custom frames) so the majority of the large sized ones would have been made specifically for export. Andy Muzi at Yellowjersey would have the best idea as to the volume of large 3Renshos imported into the USA since he was the distributor.

I dunno, but personally, whenever I find a 3 Rensho for sale; they were always too big for me (bigger than 56 cm.).....
So I would say, tall 3 Renshis are not that rare.....

I’m in japan

here’s my assessment on the toll bikes. I think the economy wasn’t very great in the early 80s and that is why it made sense for Bikes to be built there than shipped to the US.

of the 5 3Renshos I’ve seen, 2 are domestic and 5 are exports that were brought back from the USA. the model on the ones for USAA export on the chain. Plus, the serial number has an. “A” followed by a serial number.

since the yellow jersey shop in Wisconsin was the one that sent the fat check and ordered an assortment of sizes, USA got the big ones.

America’s average bike size is 56. I would say the average size in Japan is 50.

I put a “for sale” sign on my bike. Everyone “ooohs andahhhs,” but they all say “too big”

In my area tall bikes are fairly common. Koga had 66cm as a standard size. Gazelle even offered their Champion Mondial in sizes up to 70cm.

This one is currently for sale, BTW:

In Japan, ordinary size range is 48cm~58cm, but 58cm is very rare.
As a sample, when I was a member of a racing team, members were 15 or so.
height : 165cm~175cm, only one guy was 180cm
frame size: 51cm~56cm, the tall guy rode 58cm

60cm and over is extremely rare, I haven't seen 60cm or over 3Rensho, and others, in person.

Cycles Yokoo's Holks size chart
45cm~57cm

The Miyata Super Record, 1978, domestic model, 52cm, 54cm, 56cm

Koga-Miyata FullPro, 1990, tall sizes over 58cm were available.

Must have been one helluva crash to bend the top tube like that!

(Yes, I'm joking. )

Yes, it is not particularly pretty. I can understand them not wanting a top tube way up there, but a straight top tube with an extended head tube would have been more elegant, I think.
