That stem is not inserted far enough, which is putting it mildly. The visible wedge shows that all but about an inch of the stem is out of the steerer.

Miyata 1000 - Project

I saw a small Miyata 1000 for sale locally today, cheap (no online ad). It was a bit rough (rusty bits) paint has lots of little nicks/marks but no that bad, would need a full tear down and rebuild, probably a new headset (rusty). Mostly? original parts with a modern rear derailleur. I did not measure the frame and it was mixed in with other bikes so all I can say for sure is small, EDIT: measured when I went by today, confirmed at 21" or smaller, 19 1/2" more likely. Also did not have time to check if the seatpost or stem were stuck, but easily could. Looks like this one from 1981 but I think they were very similar for a few years.

I know these are well loved touring bikes, if anyone has been looking for a small one of these? and is seriously interested, I would happy to gather more info/pics and facilitate (at least to get to local shop that will pack and ship) If you are local, I will point you in the right direction.
The ask on the bike was $100 which is why I am sharing
Send me a DM if you want to know more

XL 64cm frame - would make this pretty rare, only 300 or so frames made under Dave Moulton brand
