1978 Motobecane Jubilee, Worth it? Any Owners Want to Review it?
Is $225 a fair price for this assuming it fits?
Seems like a cool bike but I'm afraid between the dyno hub and the racks it may not be much fun to ride. I want it for errands but I also want to take it for 20-30 mile rides. Any owners out who can chime in on the riding experience?

The saddle on my bike is actually an Idéale model 80. But there is no reason you can't try a Brooks on the bike.

IIRC the Jubilee means Huret Jubilee components. If so, it was a higher end bike. Maybe a 531 frame as well. Should be a nice riding bike and worth the $.

the tubing and components changed over the years. The 1973 (mine) is three tubes 531 and Huret components as original. The 1978 has three tubes Vitus 172 (also a good tubing) and Suntour components.

Motobecane of that level are nice bikes. That looks like a mid seventies one in good condition. If you like it , it is your size , and you plan on riding it , you really can’t go wrong spending that. I’ve seen better deals but that ain’t bad. The fenders and saddle are worth at least half the cost so I say fair deal even in this market. Keep in mind it may need new tires.

That’s a pretty really nice bike, well equipped. That’s a good price too. I do wonder about the seatlug, that band clamp is not right. I am not a fan of the one piece barwrap/hoodcovers.

$225 is a very square deal on that bike. That is a quality bike and it's in fine condition. Plus it has a leather saddle, fenders, racks, lighting system, etc.

Make no mistake about it, my Motobecane Grand Jubilee was one of the prettiest and nicest riding bikes that I have ever owned. Should never have sold it...

They are very nice bikes. Make sure it fits, is in good overall shape, it's maintenance is at least somewhat up to date (all-around bearing lube, healthy tires and tubes, wheel alignment, etc.). Nice extras! If it is in great shape, $225 is probably a fair price. If it needs anything you can pitch a lower price. It is a nice bike, though, especially if it is what you are looking for. I am actually about to take my '82 Moto Grand Record out for a ride. I personally really like Motobecanes! I have owned several '78 Grand Tourings, and a Le Champion. That is in addition to the Moto GR. Here's the catalog page for the 1978 Grand Jubilee.

I figure I can rev up the eBay account and net $100 on the accessories if I dont need them. Probably would sell the light and maybe the Seat if I don't love it. The racks are cool though

I've had several Grand Jubiles (although with the Nervex-lugged Reynolds frames and Huret Jubilee derailleurs) and have found them to be great riding bikes. In my stable of seven early-'70s Motobecanes, my GJ is the cheapest but also the most enjoyable to ride. All the stuff that adds weight to the bike (lights, fenders, racks, etc.) can easily be removed or added back on as you may desire. You won't regret buying this bike, go for it!

Probably the best bike I've bought for $129.00, gotta love the gravel and E bike fad. Vitus frame and fork all stock including all Cyclone drive, except my touring pedals and Avocet touring saddle. For some reason I like the ratios on the five block, as with a lot of French bikes it's good for all day and it is my new Randonneuse set up with front bag and fenders.
