Just sayin'. Seen in the wild yesterday, on a funky '60s vintage folding bike.

Such a knockoff of a Svelto, even the typeface of the logo is practically the same.

The Pecker was probably a better mech than the Svelto though, by any objective Frank-Berto-like measure.

I suppose it makes sense, as Shimano had several derailleurs with bird names. Maybe they thought Woodpecker was too long.

I think it was meant to compete with the even more obscure Campagnolo Stiffie.

Your definition of “knockoff” is way different than mine.

They look completely different, from the way they’re riveted together to their springs to the location of the limit screws.

You guys that think mechanical things that bear nothing more than a passing resemblance to other things are "knockoffs" crack me up.

Like saying the Airbus a320 is a "knockoff" of a Boeing 737.

Or the Campagnolo 9 speed front derailleur is a "knockoff" of the DA 7700 front derailleur.

How about "reverse engineered competitor with mechanical and aesthetic similarities intended to associate or be confused with an established or more successful unit"?

Please refer to me as "hair challenged senior citizen", not "bald geezer".
