Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

IIRC, both crew members in the second train were killed. At least one had to be identified through dental records because of the fire.

Who came up with the idea of measuring walks by steps instead of kilometres anyways?

1) Have you seen the movie?
2) Never having ridden through a swarm of bees, how do you know how you'd react? I mean I didn't see them. They just started hitting me ( or I them, depending on your point of view.)

¡Time to ride! A noisy bike. I didn’t get the chance to work on it yesterday. I will grease the seat post before setting out. And steadily grease all frame-based connections over the coming days.

One of our teachers at Miquon regularly played that on his guitar for us. Charlie Brown was another standard.

Same here. MIL visiting too, so the combo = I get to go on a decent ride outdoors! Looking for 3-3.5 hrs and leaving in the next 45 min or so. Gonna stay mostly coastal today.

Good ride. Cool morning so I went exploring a bit. I’m gonna ask my friend ChatGPT to recommend places to look for that fodawful noise coming from the bike.
Edit: She didn’t tell me anything I didn’t already suspect. Drat. I may have to break down and go clipless. Drat again.

Trying to gradually increase the amount I'm eating on the bike for longer rides. Cause ya know, all the pros are doing it. What I've found so far, is that I'm less drained and depleted after a ride, which is a bonus. Apparently it helps with performance too, haven't noticed that but it certainly isn't a detriment there, that's for sure.

How does this look for a 145 lb athlete on a 3.5 hour spirited z2 ride? There are two bottles with carb/electrolyte mix as well on the TCR.

I'll find out shortly.

Seems like plenty? Maybe 1000 calories there plus another 3-400 in the bottles? Just guessing here.

Saturday I had cold cereal and a banana before the ride. During the ride I had another banana, a peanut butter granola bar, a banana nut muffin and an ice tea at the break, and another small protein bar. 200 pound "athlete" doing around 6 hours. Probably 11-1200 calories on the bike.

The WT guys are doing 100-120 grams of carbs/hour . Pretty sure I'd puke if I tried to do that.

The young stud dropped my ass like a hot light bulb. In the first mile. And while doing a track stand.

But, got to see what a 22 mph pace line feels like!

Thanks for coming over to play Mr. Pilot!
