Manitou Answer Frame

I have a Manitou frame, the fork tube is cracked. Is this a common problem and is it worth fixing. I know this is an older frame, don't know exactly what year.

That doesn't look like a crack just some ugly but OK welding pretty common on even high end 90's alloy MTB's.. I have owned couple that had pretty much thumb nail welds that were fairly high end.

If that's the frame, those are quite sought after by collectors.

That's the frame, it does have a hair line crack down the tube just below the handle bars. Is it worth repairing?

A close up pic of where the crack is would help answer this question.

Aluminum frames are not generally repairable.

As said a good close up pic would help a lot of 90's alloy frames had a partial gusset on the under side of the bottom tube at the headset that doesn't look good on naked polished frame which this could be.

Might make a cool wall hanger, as stated above due to heat treating, aluminum does not lend itself to being repaired.

That's a common problem with those frames; I've seen several with that exact issue. Possibly repairable by someone who knows what they're doing, but given the era and significance of the bike, more likely to be a wallhanger. People do like these as wallhangers though! I'd say $200-400 in that condition.
