Thanks @darkmoon, glad you like that one as much as me, he does light, rain and neon better than anyone
It's good enough to make the old masters sit up and take notice
And yes I'm surprised I've not crashed into a wall or back of a car yet on my cycling around on the look out for new pieces.

Could they, late 19th century painters like Van Gogh, Renoir, and Monet, ride a bike, I wonder.

Steel Monkey that bike looks great for hauling. What's in the trailer? Is that a cool box for cold beverages on the way?
darkmoon don't know if they actually ever did or not, but they seem like they'd have liked cycling to me, and not just for helping them get about to find new scenes to paint.
Some new finds over the last few days....
The one on the right is a bit like a psychedelic 'Ophelia'

Since DaVinci invented one (my wife was born in Amboise, France. Francoise Premeire built DaVinci a house there, complete with a bike he invented) I would guess so

Saw this swinging monkeys artwork on Brick Lane in east London today, part of a series of animal artworks done by Banksy across London in recent weeks.
Details of the others here, some of which sadly have been stolen or removed already.

Steel Monkey 've not seen a Kilroy for years, a proper graffitti antique. Really like the skeleton and butterfly one too.
Here's my spots for the week, starting with my Banksy elephant spot from last weekend.
Tupac Shakur
'Graffiti is a human write' made me chuckle....
A comic strip/pop art piece.
You can try but you'll never outrun a bike...
Really like this, exactly.how I fellt prior to this mornings rowsing coffee....
As intense as the coffee is this stare from an Otto Schade piece on some shop shutters.
And finally i came across this...
...which along with my.recent.Van Gogh post is drawing attention to next weeks London Mural Festival and is a recreation of an old master painting. I'm no expert in old master paintings, but the grapes in the hair is a clue, and after some google detective work I've discovered its a recreation of a painting by Caravaggio depicting Bacchus the Greek God of wine, inebriation, fertility and theatre.

In the top photo, a running lady on the left, a pole on the right of your bike, they made your photo very good. It isn't an amateur's job
The bottom pic, Caravaggio's Bacchus, I saw it at The National Museum of Western Art, Ueno, Tokyo, in 2016.
It's no.14.
Ueno area, there is Cycles Yokoo, founded in 1925, one of major bike shops in Japan.
It is 15-minuet walk from The National Museum of Western Art.
They were the first importer of De Rosa in 1974 and proudly display Eddy Merckx his own bike and Felice Gimondi's Bianchi, who won Paris Brussels 1976 with.

Thanks darkmoon the elephant pic was a happy accident. That road is very busy and I was trying to get a pic in a gap in the traffic so was concentrating on that, took about 5 pics but the one with the lady.jogging into frame at the last second was defintely the best one..
And cool art and bikes info, you seem to know a lot about classic artists and paintings, so next time I see of those based on an old master I'll ask you instead of google 😀.
I was way out in west London today with work, so managed a quick detour to grab another recent Banksy, this one has been covered in protective perspex already.
And it took me a few seconds for my brain to figure out what i was seeing here, but once I'd recalibrated and zoomed in a little, ah of course, tropical.frogs.
There's a lot going on in this little snapshot....
And to finish a vision of beauty amongst the urban decay, first time I've felt I'm about to get flashed by an artwork

Old favorite. Saw him in Sonoma and he spent a lot of time pinned to the wall by Mark Martin. Just mentioned him because of the rusty wall mural.

Near the Olympic Park in Stratford.
And further north up in Walthamstow is a great mural by Helen Bur. It depicts local resident Beryl Swain.
Beryl was a trailblazer, but as can be seen in this old Pathe News report, faced a real struggle against the attitudes of the time. The last sentence of this clip shows what she was up against. ""slowly but surely women, the weaker sex, are muscling in on mans domain, practically no sport is sacred, thank goodness for dear old rugby league".
Beryl had mechanical problems during the 1962 race in the 50cc class she was racing in, but still managed to get the bike round what is still regarded as the worlds hardest motor cycle race, finishing 22nd out 25 riders. She vowed to come back next year and improve her time.
However Beryl's entry into the TT appears to have ruffled a few feathers and dented some fragile male egos, and the governing body changed the rules. Throughout the history of the TT races there have been injuries and fatalities, but while the death of male racers was one thing, the fear was too great that if women participating in road races were involved in a fatal accident, it would generate too much bad publicity for the sport. And so Beryl's race licence was not renewed by the governing body. Despite appealing and trying to get support to reinstate her licence and let her continue with the sport she loved, sadly Beryl was not permitted to race at the Isle of Man TT again, and was forced to retire from motorcycle racing. Sad to see such a clear case of sex discrimination crushing someones dreams. It was not until 1978 that another woman was permitted to race at the Isle of Man TT.
The people of Walthamstow have not forgotten Beryl or her trailblazing spirit, and this excellent mural is on Wood Street near where Beryl lived.
Ride on Beryl
And as a final point I'm delighted to report to that Pathe News reporter from the clip above will be spinning at 9000rpm in his grave, as the last bastion has fallen, women play.rugby league now too.
