Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Not wave-o enough to be in this realm.

Maybe XTC... (but it's one of my least favourite XTC songs)

Not very new wave, but I LOVE this one, possibly the best alt-rock cover of a British Invasion hit

In other new wave news, I'm totally hooked on Gut Health. They kinda remind me of a 21st century Australian Lena Lovich.

I've seen way more duck hanging in windows than pigeons. They have to trick you into eating pigeon by calling 'em squab

so far, the Devo cover of the Stones hits for sure. Very syncopated!

I had squab at a French restaurant in Philly when I was a teen.

I’m guessing that you know it also means dove. The Lucky Dove. There was a coffee shop around the corner from me called Lucky Goat.

Not a cover, but man this makes me smile with glee. Gotta love steel guitar, something about it just gets me every time. And Kacey ainlt too hard to look at either!

EDIT: forgot to mention - if she's getting a nod from Willie, you know she's the real deal! I love classic country. Modern stuff? Small bits here and there, but you gotta sift to find it.

First ride in four days. That little floor leveling advienture gave me heatstroke. Down for two days. Yesterday was annual health insurance renewal day.

I see hundreds of various species of pigeons daily, and can go months, or years without seeing a duck.

It looks good from here, but yeah. That isn't great. Did you hit a stud or two with some of those lag bolts?

Splurged today and bought breakfast and lunch at the local deli. Prob cost me 3-4x more than what I prepare at home: overnight oats w berries and 2 hardboiled eggs, and a veggie sandwich.

I prefer to spend my discretionary money on cycling and fine wine, but I was lazy this morning.

dang I am SMOKED from the Fiesta Island hammer ride this morning. Hard paceline with local masters hitters, punctuated by 30-35 MPH Ebike attacks that can last a couple of minutes. the front gets smaller and smaller. I was ALL OVER the front of that ride today, even spent a few miles off the front of the group solo holding down 28+ MPH on my own. ill post the ride file later.

Some good news on the law front came today.

In October 2022, I tried a case in federal court representing the KCS Railroad in a lease dispute. The KCS had built a rail yard for Sasol Chemicals, and leased it to it. A dispute regarding the amount of rent arose with KCS claiming that rent was about $16.5 million per year, and Sasol saying it should only be $14.9 million per year. Over the life of the lease, the difference is about $35 million. My team lost at trial, unfortunately, but we appealed. Today, the US Court of Appeals reversed the trial court's decision, and ruled in favor of KCS across the board. That's about a $35 million win in my books!

All the lawyers on our team are experiencing joy and jubilation today.
