Octalink Question
When a crankset says it is octalink compatable or "Octalink" on the arm that means it is compatable w/ shimano bottom brackets correct? Thanks.

Octalink is a Shimano trademark, so I would assume you are correct. Why they changed from the square spindle is anyone's guess, probably the marketing department came up with it.

There are also different variations within the Octalink series of cranks/bottom brackets. Shimano's website is a good place to go for an overview of which bbs work with which cranks.

Theres only two octalink types. Road and MTB.
Road ie Shimano Dura Ace 600 and 105 and XTR M950
Mtb ie Shimano XT and LX, deore etc
Still you have to check what fits with what crank. other crank manufactures also make cranks to fit the Rd Octalink system and the MTB octalink.
