Night before food..........
Okay anyone that has a big ride the next morning what is your favorite food that you eat night before to give you great energy next day for the ride? I usually eat a pasta dish with breads and such for the carbs. Any other suggestions?

Im sure someone will be along shortly to quote some studies about how carbs are wrong or bad etc.. they will use words like "carbo-loading" and "chris carmichael" But hey, I do the same as you, actually I found that as long as I eat a lot and a big variety. I ride great the next day.

If you consume a lot of protein the day before a big ride you'll find your legs loggy and slow. At least that's my experience.
Pasta seems to work very well as does white rice which is an even more compact form of carbohydrates.

When I was racing, we would "carbo-load" 3-2 days before the event, and eat almost anything we wanted the day before because the carbs take more than 12 hours to process. This is 10 year old wisdom though.

The night before my fastest century I ate pizza and split a pitcher of beer with my wife.
YMMV, but it worked for me.

I eat a big plate of pasta marinara, french bread, and a slab of salmon. I eat that 5-7 nights per week all the time anyway. Plus, I eat a big breakfast the next morning about 2 hours before the ride.

I just try--same as most nights--to eat a solid healthy meal, perhaps a bit larger and with lots more fluids. I usually try to up the fiber a bit though. Nothing worse than showing up early in the morning for an event and have the coffee kick in when the line for the johns is 12 deep.

I m down with the pasta and bread as well.
I also try to do a big ol bowl of oatmeal (the 5 minute, non instant kind) with some frozen blueberries and a little brown sugar and cinnamon. Try my best to do this 3-4 hours before a big ride, but I can handle it as little as 2 hours before. Closer to ride time I have to cut the amount.

Tonight it was (breakfast for dinner!) an omlette with some cheese and veggies, hash browns, ham, and a coupled of glasses of OJ. Probably not the best pre-ride meal (not a lot of carbs), but tomorrows ride is going to an easy one, so no big deal.

As long as I dont try out a shady looking chinese buffet I'm usually fine. For breakfast prior to the ride, I will eat a little bit more than usual, but I don't change what I eat.

Stuffing your face with food the night before a race or ride is only going to be make you feel bloated. Proper nutrition throughout the week should keep you with enough energy.
